Keiko, the savior (20/09/2006 11:27)

As you might remember from my former blogs, my norwegian team, Viking FK, haven't done all to good this season. This have might come to an end.

Tom Prahl, a swedish sleepyhead, with what should be great tactical knowledge ended up putting this great team into the relegation section. After 19 matches with the record 4 wins, 5 draws and 10 loses Viking FK's board finally made the dicision to throw Tom Prahl in the mud. For my own record i can't believe a top division team can hire a manager looking as drowsy as he do. Take a look for yourself.

With this sleepy head as a team leader your subordinates, the players, are bond to skip some work and lose their matches. Worst thing is that doesn't only look drowsy, but he didn't do anything from the sideline to push his players to the edge. I don't think i need to speak to much more about it, the record speaks for itself. He was another flop for Viking FK.

The good thing is that Viking FK already have hired a new manager for their team. The very same day as the sack Tom Prahl they travelled down south to Kristiansand where they had a meeting with the newly sacke Start manager well known as Keiko.

This a manager with great abbilities and he's forcing his players to play 110% at all time. He's record is very impressive although he got sacked from Start the fans down there woreship him. He's was first known as a manager taking Odd Grenland into the norwegian Tippeliga several season ago. After that he switched club and took over Vålerenga when they played in division 1. Also this resulted in a promotion the very next season. Then in 2004 he took over the helmet in Start, also this a division 1 team. He promoted to the top division in the first seasaon and last season (2005) he lead his team to an impressive second place in their first season in the top flight, only beaten by Vålerenga. I'll show you a picture here of how a manager should look like.

His real name is Tom Nordlie and have managed Viking FK for about 1 week and a couple of days now. He lead the team from the sideline for the first tim on sunday, when we played home against Stabæk. For the record, Stabæk got the deadliest attacker combination in the league. Veigar Pall Gunnarsson (12 goals) and Daniel Nannskog (11 goals) have both scored more goals then any other player from other teams. I mention this just to explain how difficult task Keiko was up against.

The match was for once pretty even and Viking came to some really good chances. Never the less, in the 63rd minute it all became very dark as Stabæk scored on a corner and took the lead, 0-1. Jus a minute later Viking's Øyvind Svenning was down with something that looked like a serious neck injury. Medic's came running onto the pitch and put on a headrest before carrying him off the pitch with a stretcher. Birkir Bjanason replaced Svenning on the right flank. Just a couple of minutes later another player got carried of the pitch on a stretcher with a head injury. This time it was one of the Stabæk defenders, something that later on would look to have great impact on the final result.
When the game finally got back into play Viking started to create several big opportuneties. Peter Ijeh nodded the ball over from about 1 yard from the goal line. It seemed like tha ball just was against us today at that moment, but 4 minutes later we got our equaliser after Stabæks goalie gave a rebound on a freekick and Peter Ijeh came first to the lose ball and had an easy job to put the ball into the open goal. From here on and in it was all about viking. Within the next 10 minutes they scored another 2 goals and won the match 3-1. It should be mentioned that the match had 8 minutes of extra time because of both the two serious injuries.

Yesterday came the other good news when the hospital reported that there were now serious damage on Svenning's neck and he can get back on the trainingfield the coming week. It looks like all the bad luck we have had turned into good luck after getting Tom "Keiko" Nordlie as manager. Now there remain 6 matches to be played before the season ends and Viking are second to last, only 1 point behind a playoff spot and 2 points behind a safe spot.

Their upcoming match is away against Sandefjord who is only 2 points ahead of Viking. If we win that match we'll end up on either a playoff match or a secure spot. What ever is good, we just need to concentrate through the match so we wont lose the match. It's a so called 6 point match that can bring towards a new contract in the top flight.

All hail Keiko, the savior!

pictureAye, he did wonders with Start, and he might be able to do it again. If he stats in Viking next season as well, it will be intresting to see how they do!

(On a side note, I guessed Viking would end Top 5 this year just before the season started....Says more about me I guess)

pictureGood, good! Please continue to think that Tom Prahl is danish (I'm not too proud of him here in Sweden ;) ), although he has had a pretty good career but I think it's over. Nice blog entry but I wonder; why did Keiko get sacked from Start (not following the norwegian league)?

pictureHe got sacked at Start because the board there were stupid, but they got a really nice replacement though. Someone managing the team pretty much the same way as Keiko do. So nothing much happend in Start after they got the new manager, except that the first team players came back from injury and teh team started to win their matches again.

pictureHe gets sacked cause when things go bad (prolly NOT Keikos faulth) the players and boards get frustrated, and then choose the easiest solution. As allways........

Keiko is one demanding coach, and he will allways be. My guess is he will be sacked in Viking too, within the next two years... if he continious to lead em. Doesnt mean he is a bad coach, cause he is pretty much the best coach there is in norway theese days.
