Season 38 - Who made the 1/8 finals and more (24/07/2008 21:23)
Managerleague
Champions League

1/8 finals

16 teams managed to come through from the group stage and only one of them was out of the 12 brand new teams in the competition. Out from my own predictions before the competiton started i managed to get 10 out of 16 teams correct which i'm pretty satisfied with knowing that many managers are on vacations. Lets see if can get the 1/8 finals just as good

All the teams were written on small notes and put inside their special little ball before one and one were drawn to match up the first knock-out stage matches. The outcome were as follow.

HOME
AWAY
Bavaria Bulldogs Alex Perfect Elleven
DINAMO 13 Real Boludos
CDEstarreja Holland 1 - A-tack
CzarneKoszule Royals
Manch United Reservoir Dogs
SC Heerenveen Petlan
Papillary Carcinoma Milky Way
NikeNike Skjoldar

As many of you might already noticed, many of the biggest favourites to win the whole competition are already out after the group stage. Teams like Ringnesklanen, Hogwarts of Wizardry, Spurred On and more failed to get through from their groups and only have the league and league cup left to get some trophies this season. That said, I just must say. All of the teams coming this far totally deserve it. They're all magnificent teams with great managers, but the hard part starts now. It's no longer possible to get back in the competition if the another match is lost. Only one of the past champions league winners are still in the competition so there is a very big chance that we get another new competition winner this season. Lets take a look at each of the matches.

Bavaria Bulldogs - Alex Perfect Elleven

Both teams only lost 1 match in the group stage against the group winner. They score quite a lot of goals so we can expect a match with a lot of goals. The strikers will decide the result in this match for sure. Alex strikers have scored a total of 19 goals in his 7 CL matches, while Bavaria strikers have netted a total of 17 goals.
My tip: 3-2 in favour of Alex Perfect Elleven

Dinamo13 - Real Boludos

This one is gonna be a real firework of a match. Both teams have scored a lot of goals and have only drawn one match in the group stage. They have also only let in 8 goals each on the 7 group stage matches. Maybe one of the goalies will have an outstanding match and save the day.
My tip: 3-1 in favour of Real Boludos

CDEstarreja - Holland 1 - A-tack

Holland 1 - A-tack is the team that have let in fewest goals so far in the competition with a total of 6. He doesn't score so much though which can become his big weakness this season, although his main attacker have scored 15 of 24 goals so far in the competition. CDEstarreja have the current top goalscorer in the competition which have scored 16 goals. Can he score the goals he need against last season champion or will A-tack's goalie keep another cleen sheet?
My tip: 3-0 in favour of Hollan
d 1 - A-tack

CzarneKoszule - Royals

CzarneKoszule are one out of three teams that managed to win all their group stage games and will be a huge favourite in this 1/8 final. Royals lost 2 matches and drew 1. He also let in a total of 20 goals. I believe CzarneKoszule will get enough of chances to put in enough goals to get through to the next stage in this game.
My tip:  3-2 in favour of CzarneKoszule a.e.t. (2-2 full time)

Manch United - Reservoir Dogs

Probably the biggest match in this knock-out stage with two of the favourites to win the whole competition. Manch United walked through his group with 7 wins, but he only have +12 goal difference. Reservoir Dogs on the other hand have +15 goals with both a loss and a draw. He both score more and let in less then Manch United, but all matches live their own life.
My tip: 3-3, Manch United will win on penalties

SC Heerenveen - Petlan

Petlan is the last team that have won all his matches in the group stage, but i'm afraid that's goint to hit the breaks now. SC Heerenveen have an amazing squad, but have let in more then 2 goals per match in average.
My tip: 4-2 in favour of Petlan, but this match can hit both ways

Papillary Carcinoma - Milky Way

Papillary Carcinoma is the biggest surprise of them all. He's the only team that participate in the competition for the first time that actually managed to get throug to the final 16. He should not be too happy with his draw though. Milky Way won his group in front of both Skjoldar and Ringnesklanen and he scores a lot of goals in the process. His two strikers have alone score 26 goals so far in the competition.
My tip: 4-0 in favour of Milky Way

NikeNike - Skjoldar

NikeNike is the only team that have not logged in the last 24 hours. I can not confirm if he's on vacation at the moment. Skjoldar will have a huge advantage if NikeNike will stay offline when it comes to making the right tactics and formation. Maybe skjoldar will get to his first 1/4 finals in this competition.
My tip: 3-1 in favour of Skjoldar
