Division 4, Here We Come! (05/08/2008 17:45)
Celebrations are continuing in the streets of Dorchester tonight as their Magpies just secured their 2nd promotion in their 5 year history by beating sucker by the very popular score, all 3 playoff games were won by it, 2-0. The resurgence of Alfredo Rodriguez has been evident in these playoffs as he played all 3 games and scored 3 of the team's 6 goals, including the promotion clincher in the 47th minute. Rodriguez might play less of a role in the future, but he has made sure his stamp has been placed on this team. "I honestly hope he can keep up like this for many years to come," said manager T.K. Bomber. "He is the reason that we are Division 4 bound even after sitting on the bench most of the second half of the year. All I can say is when he retires, I'll vote for him to be entered into the Dorchester FC Hall of Fame."

Coach Bomber's road to this title came in his first season back from his self-imposed hiatus last season for personal issues that the team has not disclosed. He looks forward to the challenges that are up ahead for his team. "This will not be easy, trying to stay up in Division 4," he said. "We are no longer the big fish in a small pond like we were in 5/62, we are a small fish in a very big pond. If we can survive our first year in International 4/16, I'm confident we'll stay there until the team is good enough to be promoted again. However, we'll have to fight with everything we have to keep this spot right now and I promise we will."

Playoff Results (left team is home)
Round 1: Dorchester FC 2-0 Olimpo de Bahia Blanca
Round 2: almafuerte 0-2 Dorchester FC
Promotion Game: sucker 0-2 Dorchester FC

Congratulations to all other teams that earned a promotion earlier and good luck next season.

Season 37 International 5/62 1st Weekend Roundup (21/06/2008 05:03)
Well, it might be a bit early writing this, here on the East Coast of the United States it is technically still Friday though it is weekend time, but I'm not caring about that. As normal, let's show everyone my predictions for this season.

1. Pool Man
2. Dorchester FC
3. Vargedo
4. Espantas
5. Wermacht
6. riiserrs
7. LIverpool-Niggaz
8 Niebieskie Orlatka
9. FC Telsiai
10. huse mitt
11. matchteam fc
12. Sunhill
13. Forex
14. crazypowa
15. KFUM Oslo
16. Kutai FC

Unlike last season where I pretty much nailed the top 4, this season is looking like a quagmire. There is an uneven number comparing teams doing better then I thought and teams doing worse then I thought. So despite only having one spot picked correct, Wermacht in 5th, my score might not be that bad. Here are the teams that have performed above and below expectations. As always to be on either list the team must be either 3 or more spots ahead or 3 or more spots behind what I thought they would do. No other considerations which means to people with common sense this might have actually been predictable.

Teams that have done BETTER then expectations:
1.) riiserrs (Predicted 6th; Currently 2nd)
File this one under the "I'm a Complete Moron" file. Why I decided that a demoted team from the 4th division would be so low I have no idea..... oh wait I do. From my last blog entry, "Yes, riiserrs is possible top 3 with some of their talent, I just see that midfield being its downfall unless they play something like 4-3-3." What does riiserrs use as its formation? Hope it don't take a brain surgeon to figure out that it is the 4-3-3, because I should have seen it coming a mile away. Thankfully I beat them for their only loss or they would make me look even more ridiculous then I already do. That's the amazing thing about predicting your own league, you can soften the damage of a team exceeding your expectations by beating them on the field.

2.) huse mitt (Predicted 10th; Currently 7th)
Unlike riiserrs, I could not prevent this team from making me look foolish, if I had won my game against them they would be 9th. No one uses the forum chat in our league so I don't get to talk to the league managers, but huse mitt's somp has been the only non top 3 team's manager in my league to consistently stay around until this year where a couple of lower standing managers are pretty active. He or she, not going to guess since I'd probably be wrong, is a manager who seemingly just loves the game and doesn't quit because his or her team is near the bottom 6. Depth at every position but goalie was my concern with this team but they have pleasantly surprised. Somp deserves to stay in the 5th league, and possibly get promoted to 4th in a season or two.  The team needs more depth, but over time should get to the point where it contends for a promotion.

3.) crazypowa (Predicted 14th, Currently 9th)
Another actively managed team that has greatly exceeded expectations. Looking at their roster I do not see how this team has done it. Never mind the team average of quality being 70, the team only has 2 players who have a quality of 70 or higher, highest being 71. This team has been losing steam of late, being 0-1-3 in the last 4 games, but hopefully it can hang on by just enough to stave off the playoffs since I've only seen one 6th division team lose to a 5th division playoff team in 6 attempts.

Teams that have done worse then expectations.
1.) Espantas (Predicted 4th; Currently 8th)
I knew that my riiserrs pick could be wrong if they played 4-3-3, which as mentioned earlier they do, but of all teams to give their top 4 spot to why did I pick Espantas? Did the Spanish sounding name somehow trigger the cinco anos de classes espanol tengo. (Sorry Spanish people everywhere for butchering your language, and being too lazy to add the sideways s above the n's in anos and espanol.) Only thing that makes sense since Wermacht only has defense and goalie holes whereas Espantas has midfield and defensive issues. Heck huse mitt would've been more sane considering their only flaw, like mine, is the bench. Well, live and learn.

2.) Sunhill (Predicted 12th; Currently 16th)
I thought they'd be bad, they are actually awful. Not to mention the worst managed team since most of their best players ride the pine, while the scrubs get all the playing time. Funny part is, injuries that will inevitably come will probably help them since it might force them to play the best lineup they can.

I leave this article with a few words of what should be common sense, but apparently isn't. When playing friendlies, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS put tackles to soft. I just lost my 2nd best defensive player to a 1st minute red card by the opposing team. Thankfully the rest of the defense and my goalie is good and the remaining 1st half schedule only pits me against one top 6 team, the #1 team Vargedo. Otherwise I'd be pulling my hair out and making my head look like crop circles.

Old and New Predictions (15/06/2008 17:15)
I was going to do this later, but I keep forgetting that 9:00 AM ML time is 9:00 PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time (Here's a hint for ya Woj ) and I want this out more then an few hours before first kick-off. In honor of the United States Open, and the fact that my score is probably in the 70's, there will be an extra scoring for my prediction system. Since Torrey Pines is a par 71 golf course, I will have an added score of how much over or under "par" my score from last season is. As with last year and golf, the lower score I get the better. One point is earned for every spot my predictions were off, meaning that top and bottom spots being wrong can hurt me more then my middle of the pack predictions. The number in parenthesis is their rank in the table at the end of season 36, and the other number is the point total

1. fenix (1) 0
2. Liverpool IFC (2) 0
3. Pool Man (3) 0
4. Dorchester FC (4) 0
5. traeff fc (14) 9
6. huse mitt (8) 2
7. Of Per Zia (9) 2
8. Forex (10) 2
9. Wermacht (5) 0
10. Dinamo Ploiesti (16) 6
11. Espantas  (7) 4
12. Amsterdam FC (13) 1
13. youneverwalkbjksiz (12) 1
14. Liverpool-Niggaz (6) 8
15. GPs team (15) 0
16. Niebieskie Orlatka (11) 5

Total score: 40 (-31

Too bad I can't play golf that well, as neither can any man on this planet. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with how well I did compared to a season ago where I did reach the 70's. I wrote the above part before I checked my score so that is why my prediction on my predictions was so off the mark. Hopefully that does not carry over to this season's predictions

Dorchester FC's projected record (W-D-L): 2nd place 22-3-5 for 69 points.

Predictions for season 37
1. Pool Man
2. Dorchester FC
3. Vargedo
4. Espantas
5. Wermacht
6. riiserrs
7. LIverpool-Niggaz
8 Niebieskie Orlatka
9. FC Telsiai
10. huse mitt
11. matchteam fc
12. Sunhill
13. Forex
14. crazypowa
15. KFUM Oslo
16. Kutai FC

I'm not taking too many risks with this table. Yes, riiserrs is possible top 3 with some of their talent, I just see that midfield being its downfall unless they play something like 4-3-3. Besides that one my predictions are pretty reasonable. Of course even the best laid predictions can go haywire once the games are played. Hopefully I'll be right on my team's prediction and maybe even take the crown. Until next time good luck with your games.

Where in the World is TKBomber? (14/06/2008 07:10)
Normally, an 8 day hiatus from a blog is average. However, for those hundreds of people who read this blog consistently know, I rarely take more then 3 days in between writing some article or another about the game and my created stories about digital soccer players and the games they play. In fact I missed the most entertaining article, in my own opinion, I wrote for Season 35. The Prediction Results blog will be written probably inside the season 37 prediction blog, though it will take some effort as I have to find renamed teams, and search the various promotion and demotion leagues.

So where did I go? Heh, no way to make this simple so I'll just say it as it is in my head, nowhere and everywhere. Everything was going normally, as normally as a crazy person like mine's life can go , when some bad news struck. I will not say what it was, because looking back it was nothing to go get so preoccupied over and now everything is ok again, but when it happened it preoccupied me to no end. I tried to keep my normal sense of humor and wit, but as I found out more, the less ability I had to keep myself happy. I was going to write a couple of blogs, one about Pool Man winning 2-0 in the final regular season game and the prediction topic, but they would've been soulless and empty. I am not the best writer on the earth, but I am not going to write a half-attempt at a summary and call it a blog, despite what my frequent writings may say to some. I have fun rambling on about my computerized soccer team and the goings on around it. Maybe it means I have no friends..... on second thought it don't mean that, it just means I have free time on my hands. Until I no longer have the time or will to write these blogs I will write until my fingers all get blisters and I need one of those headphone typing setups that were all the rage at the turn of the millenium.

I was deciding before everything came up on whether or not I would go to the USA league where I might actually find people who communicate with each other. But I've decided to stay International for now and weigh my options after season 37. Maybe a promotion to the 4th division will get me to a more active league. First though I got to play the season and then probably win 3 playoff games to get there. Hopefully I can but we'll see how the cookie crumbles.

One Game to Live for Dorchester FC (06/06/2008 19:19)
The twenty-first win of the season came on a goal in the 85th minute and gave Dorchester FC a too close for comfort 1-0 win over Liverpool Niggaz. This win combined with huse mitt's huge defensive effort in a 0-0 draw against Pool Man sets up the biggest game in Dorchester since last year's Department Cup Final against InSaNiTy. If the Magpies can win at Old Anfield, they will advance to the playoffs. If they get either a draw or a loss they will have to wait another season for an opportunity for promotion.
With the weekend break resulting in an extended period of time in between this game, both teams will be preparing for the biggest match of the season. "All I can say is that we will be prepared for this match-up as best as humanly possible," said manager T.K. Bomber. "This is what we played our entire season for, and the extra break helps us out quite a bit. Our coaching staff feels as though it has found a weakness in the Pool Man method of attack and we hope we can exploit this weakness in our game." The players know that their previous win at the halfway point of the season will mean next to nothing in the rematch. "While we gave Pool Man their first taste of defeat, we know how hard it is to beat a team of their caliber twice in one year," said veteran striker Alfredo Rodriguez. "Their crowd will be rocking Old Anfield and they know as much as we do what this game means for their season. There is no way they will play it safe, trying to get a draw and advance. They'll come out full guns blazing trying to destroy us as a warm-up for the playoffs. All I can say is that we don't intend on making this game their warm-up, we intend on making this game their last one this season."

The winner of this game will face IFK Liverpool in the first round of the playoffs. Dorchester FC drew at The Park at Dorchester 2-2 and lost at Anfield (Blogger's note: Two Liverpool fans in one International Department is too many.) 3-0. We will bring you the result of that game as soon as we possibly can.

Great Scott! Bender Added to Magpie Midfield (03/06/2008 02:24)
The Dorchester FC board has announced today that they have come to terms with midfielder Scott Bender (player #6520409) to become the newest member of the Magpie squad. "While many people will look at this signing's timing and say that it was rushed, we had the scouts out in advance looking at the free agent market and the transfer market for players to add to our squad. We had another player or two that we felt would also fit our squad but neither deal was finalized before we decided to go pick up Mr. Bender. We hope that he will be a major player for our team in the years to come."

One player who is not surprised by this signing is last year's Silver Youngster Award winner Allen Page, who played with Bender on his high school team. "Scott was one of the leaders of our team when I was started playing varsity my sophomore year. He was always making sure we did our drills and was a great on the field general. While I am personally shocked that it took him this long to find a team, I am ecstatic that I get to play with him again and hopefully have the same success we did back then." Bender and Page were both on the Christ Church Episcopal School team that won the South Carolina 1A Championship in 2005.

Blackwell Transferred to Nueva Republika (01/06/2008 16:47)
In a move that has shocked the fans of Dorchester FC, popular midfielder Edgar Blackwell has been sold to 2nd Division club Nueva Republika for $13,912,758. The board has said that they were not pleased with training results from Blackwell over the past couple of seasons where we had shown very poor improvement compared to players like Allen Page and Gene Delgado. "We felt that Mr. Blackwell did not have the drive to be a part of this team as we go ahead in the future. We felt that we could get a better player from either free agency or the transfer market. We wish Mr. Blackwell the best of luck with Nueva Republika."

The board has said that pretty soon there should be a new addition or additions for the club. How will this shape the rest of the season? Like the rest of you, we will have to wait to find out.

Season 36 International 5/62 2nd Weekend Roundup (31/05/2008 20:10)
In response to my last blog was sent in by Marcus Zolcan. He showed me Romania Division 4 Department 64 as an example so if you guys want to check that one as an example outside International Division 5 go right ahead.

For one of the few times in my life, I honestly have no idea what to write on. I could do what I did last week, but I hate repeating myself in the same season. (Blogger's note: I'm thinking of doing that in the 2nd Weekend Roundup instead of the first and doing a round-up of the interesting scores during the first week. We'll see how long I keep that idea before it goes away.) I couldn't wait for the weekend to post my "Will 20 Wins be Enough for Playoffs" blog which took away any main story I had. So what will I write about? I'll split it into 2 parts.

1.) International 5/62 Department Cup.
The upsets of last year in the Department have mostly been non-existant this season as four of the top five teams are in the semi-finals. Here are the match-ups and how I feel they will go

Of Per Zia vs. Dorchester FC
Of Per Zia won the two team's previous match-up in an exciting 2-1 match-up. Games between these two clubs usually are pretty exciting and affairs that are worth the price of admission. Even with recent form from Dorchester FC, I do not see them moving on to their second straight Department Cup Final, though I see this game going to a shootout.
Predicted score Of Per Zia 1 Dorchester FC 1 (Of Per Zia wins 3-2 on penalties)

Pool Man vs Fenix
The one result from Pool Man from Fenix I have access to shows Fenix beating Pool Man 2-1 on the road. Fenix has been undefeated this season and even against a team as strong as Pool Man, I do not see them losing in such an important match
Predicted score: Fenix 3 Pool Man 1

2.) How are they doing now?
Seven teams last year left International 5/62 either through promotion or demotion. Here are their results through 19 games. (numbers are last year's standings in 5/62)
1. InSaNiTy  7th place in 4/16 9-4-6   31 points
2. Flying Snails 5th place in 4/16 10-5-4   35 points
12. Lura IL 3rd place in 6/247 10-7-2   37 points
13. FL Telsiai 1st place in 6/245 15-2-2   47 points
14. ForzaRBK 3rd place in 6/246 9-7-3   34 points
15. matchteam fc 1st place in 6/247 13-5-1   44 points
16. Sunhill 4th place in 6/248 11-5-3   38 points
Good to see that all of the demoted teams are in the fight once again to get back up and that it will not be a one season and back down for either promoted club. Keep up the good work guys.

There will be a blog sometime in the next couple of days about something going on with Dorchester FC. I will not say what it is, but it will change this team. For better or for worse, I have no idea, but let's just say it's been on my mind this season and I made my decision.

Will 20 Wins be Enough for Playoffs? (28/05/2008 21:48)
OK managers, this is probably an easy question for you, would you be happy if someone came and said that they knew that your team would win 20 games exactly this season? Except for the few active managers who have fallen into a league where their team just overpowers inferior competition or were able to get key pieces at the end of last season to greatly improve, the answer is probably yes. However, for teams in this blogger's good old International 5/62, not only might this number not be good enough for top 3, it might put them in 5th.

Here is the current form at the halfway point in International 5/62
                                              W   D   L         Pts
Fenix                                    13   2   0         41
Pool Man                             12   2   1         38
Of Per Zia                            11   1   3         34 (+26 goal differential)
IFK LIverpool                       11  1   3         34 (+22 goal differential)
Dorchester FC                    11  0   4         33
Espantas                               8  2   5         26
Liverpool Niggaz                  7  2   6         23
Wermacht                             5   3   7         18 (-1 goal differential)
huse mitt                               6   0   9         18 (-5 goal differential)
Forex                                      5   1   9         16
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amsterdam FC                    3   5    7        14 (-8 goal differential)
youneverwalkbjksiz             4   2    9        14 (-26 goal differential)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Niebieskie Orlatka              3   2    10       11 (-8 goal differential)
traeff fc                                   3   2    10       11 (-23 goal differential)
GPs Team                            2   4      9        10
Dinamo Ploiesti                   1   1    13         4

Yes, if the top teams even run a little bit worse then the pace they set in the first half of the season, there will be 5 20-win teams at the end of the season. There would definitely be some upset managers considering shows that in some leagues, a 7 or 8 win team currently holds 3rd place. While none of the 5th division International International League  Divisions have 5 11-win teams or more, a decent amount have 5 10-win teams including 22, 38 (where the 5th 10-win team has 6th place), 39, 64, 71 (Top 4 have 12 wins or more), 73, 94, 109 (Top 6 teams have 10 wins or more), 127, 147, 161, 170, 179, 206, 220 (Top 6 teams have 10 wins or more), 232, and 238. Department 29 holds the only noteworthy honorable mention has they have 4 teams with 12 wins or more

What this means is simple, a pretty good amount of great teams will not be getting promotions from this division this year if forms hold. So next time someone, like yours truly, feels that if only they were in a different division they would be in a playoff, remember that there are others out there in your same position. Final word of wisdom, better to be a 20-win team two years in a row in a lower division then a 16-win team who gets promoted and then posts a 0-4-26 record the next season.

NOTE: (If any of my 100-200 readers are in a similar standing league either post it in comments or send me a PM and I will mention it in my next blog which will probably be late Saturday- early Sunday ML time)

ManagerLeague Review (27/05/2008 21:00)
I may not have been playing this game as long as some people that have been here, but playing it hands-on everyday since I joined a little over a month ago I have been able to see how this game plays. Team management games have been something that I have fallen in love with in the past few months and it is easy to see why. Who out there doesn't want to run their own team and take it to the top of the ladder in the league. Who doesn't like making the great deal to get an underrated player who will put you over the top, or selling the overrated player for big bucks when you feel his best days are behind him? Team management games allow us to show that we could possibly run the team that we root for and have fun along the way. ManagerLeague has been one of these games that I have been playing over the past few months. How does it stack up to other games of the same type? Let's get to the ratings and find out.

Appearance: (1.8/3.0) Most of the pages on the site are black background, and in my opinion a little bland and dreary. Two of the most important pages have color however which salvages an average rating, the team selection page and the active transfers page. Team selection page allows people to quickly see what format the team is it and what players are starting. Maybe it is obvious that the top guys are starters, but that is not the way all sites do it so it's not as obvious as you'd think. However, you do have to watch to not put a defender at midfield or goalie because the color does not change to show you put a person out of position. Simple reading takes care of this so it is not a real problem in my opinion.

The transfer page is color coded by the four positions. Red for attackers, yellow for midfielders, green for defensemen, and blue for goalies. It shows you the values for the guy whether the bid is really high, really low, or in between. Personally I think that there should be more of a color coded system for that just for a passing glance, but again it's something a little reading would do the same thing for.

Introduction/Learning Curve: (2.7/3.0) As long as a player is willing to look for the information, a player should have no trouble mastering the basics of the game. The user manual will tell a player mostly everything from what training the team stats will do to what the various coaches and staff for your team do. I'm going to give a tip that the manual does give, but not as strongly as I believe it should be. Build up your stadium capacity up to 15,000 before tinkering with any of the other stadium options. Money does not grow on trees in this game and every little bit you can get from your stadium helps.

Gameplay: (2.1/3.0) As with most games of this genre, gameplay is in two areas. The first one is making a team that will win games for you now so you can move up to the next league where more money and more active teams.will be. The second one is the building a team for the future so you can stay where you are in seasons to come. Everyone joining will be given a pretty good team for the lowest tier, so with proper management  they can move up to the next division in a year or two. As i mentioned before, money will be tight considering how highly price talent is in this game. This is like real life soccer however, and does not detract at all from the gaming experience.

The only flaw with the gameplay is that in my opinion seasons go by too fast. A normal season will last 3 weeks with cup games and playoffs taking up the fourth week of the season. If they made it so there was only one game a day, the game would not feel quite as rushed like it does now. The administrators of the site have been considering this change, which is good considering it could cause less credits to be bought overall, but that probably is a few seasons away at minimum.

Fun (2.7/3.0) As rushed as the gameplay is, it doesn't hamper the fun factor at all. Yes, you probably have to buy a lot of credits to get a team up into the top tier of your league, but the site needs to make money. Even if you don't get up to the premier leagues, you'll still have fun managing your team to the best possible results that you can humanly get. Different formations can cause a team to have different advantages when they play each other on the pitch. Choosing what stadium improvements you should get after you get to 15,000 capacity can change the way your team operates. What stats you trains players individually and as a team can also affect what strategy will work best for you. Fun is not perfect because your first few seasons will be either in leagues where most teams are bots or pretty inactive, but once you get into 3rd or 4th division, depending on what league you join, at least half the league will be active and you can use the department forum to talk to each other.

Approval Stamp (1.0/1.0)

Total Score (10.3/13) This is one of the better football/soccer, sorry world but it will always be called soccer here in the States, manager games out there. If you want to manage your favorite team from 3rd or 4th division to the top of the European top leagues, this game is not for you. If you want to manage a bunch of players and have hard work and ingenuity bring them and yourself as high as you want to go with them, then this is the perfect game for you. No other multiple season managerial football/soccer game allows you to put so much of a stamp on your team like this game does. It allows you to control every aspect of a team without it being tedious, while not being picky with things that would rarely be used. In summary, anyone out there who has ever wanted to take a team and is willing to be active enough to make sure all the correct moves are made should play this game.

International 5/62 First Weekend Roundup (24/05/2008 22:34)
Well, after the first week of play in season 36 at International 5/62 one thing is for certain. That is the fact that predicting the top four teams in the lower division leagues is easy, it is predicting the rest that is hard. These were my predictions before the start of the season.

1. fenix
2. Liverpool IFC
3. Pool Man
4. Dorchester FC
5. traeff fc
6. huse mitt
7. Of Per Zia
8. Forex
9. Wermacht
10. Dinamo Ploiesti
11. Espantas
12. Amsterdam FC
13. youneverwalkbjksiz
14. Liverpool-Niggaz
15. GPs team
16. Niebieskie Orlatka

Except for Pool Man and IFK Liverpool (Blogger's note: 2nd misspelling of a team's name in two seasons) switching spots the top 4 is right on the money. It is the middle and bottom of the table which both seasons has given me the most trouble. As I did last year, here are the teams that have performed above the expectations, and those who have fallen flat. As always, for a team to qualify for either classification they must be 3 spots above or below where they are on my prediction table.

Teams That have Exceeded Expectations
1. Espantas (predicted 11th; currently 6th)
This is a team that injuries are starting to take their toll on. They have lost 3 of their normal starting 11 do to overplaying and not resting them during practices. They have run those guys to a nice 4-1-4 start, but they will need their backups to play just as well to stay above the yellow line. I'm still unsure if new management changes the whole team on the new player, but if it don't this team can stay where it is with proper management and possibly even move to 4th or 5th.

2. GPs Team (predicted 15th; currently 10th)
There is no statistical reasoning on why this team is not in the cellar. They have 6 players who are injured, 2 of which haven't even played a game all season. Their best players sit on the bench and a couple of their worst players have played all 9 games. They should fall down to 15th or 16th, but then again that's where they should be and they obviously are not. Maybe certain players play better together or something on ML because there's nothing else I can figure on why they have been so successful, and considering they only have 9 points that's saying something.

3. Niebieskie Orlatka (predicted 16th; currently 13th)
Not sure why I am posting them since they are still in the automatic relegation zone but they are closer to a playoff berth then I thought they would be. In the end, what it will come down to is how far some other teams fall, since it looks like they might have a fitness advantage later on during the season. I still see them in the red, but any team that has some fight in it is a fun and interesting team to watch.

Teams That have not Met Expectations
1. traeff fc (predicted 5th; currently 12th)
I would love to say that this team has gone through the roughest patch of its first half season schedule, but they still have a home game against Of Per Zia and away games against Dorchester FC and then back-to-back games against the top two teams in the league, Fenix and IFK Liverpool. Having to face 4 of the top 5 teams in the league when you're in a rut four games in a row is not good for the chances of staying alive. It would surprise me as much if they pull out 8 or 9 out of 12 points in those games as it would surprise me if they got 0 to 3 points. I feel they will be in the top 10 come the end of the season, but they need a change of form fast and their schedule does not look favorable.

2. Forex (predicted 8th; currently 11th)
Out of Forex and traeff fc, Forex has the more favorable scheduling to put a little run together. Both of their matches against top half of the table talent in the next 5, IFK Liverpool and Espantas, are at home. Course, if they are in the same position the last 5 or 6 games they'd probably trade those for home games at the end of the season, but you have to take what the schedule gives. I personally think they will stay where they are after looking at what I have seen, but being here shows how right I've been with them so far this season.

3. Dinamo Ploiesti (predicted 10th; currently 16th)
The only good news I can say about this team is the fact that all 4 of their points have been earned the past 3 games. Maybe they're finally starting to find something, but with 4 players injured  and some of their stars on the bench, this team looks destined to stay in the red. Depending on how true my GPs Team prediction is they might be able to avoid the cellar, but that's all that they will go up in the table.

4. Amsterdam FC (predicted 12th; currently 15th)
I predict them to be the bottom of the league last season and they make it to mid-table. I predict them a little bit better this year, though still in the promotion/demotion playoffs and they go into the red. I think they will pretty much stay in the red, but knowing how they react to my predictions, this might give them the superhuman ability to win 7 or 8 in a row and get up to 9th or something.

Next week will probably bring some shocks and results that no one will see coming, and come next Saturday I will actually post the up-to-date table underneath the predictions. Why not this week? Because I am lazy and have a headache that will not stop. Until then, unless something new happens, i.e. I can get someone to buy a player that I have up for transfer and no more Department Cup results until the finals, this is TKBomber signing out.

Season 36: International 5/62 Predictions (18/05/2008 06:06)
Unlike last season, where I had a pretty good idea of who at least the top couple of teams would be in the league, this year the talent is more spread out.  fenix will be the favorite to go back to Division 4 with the most talented roster and an active manager to run team affairs. IFK Liverpool has a talented roster as well, but they lack the manager as of the present writing to take the league outright. The season might hinge on whether raw talent or tactful managing will win the day for the playoff spots.

Prediction for Dorchester FC
: 14-9-7 (51 points) 4th place
Department Cup: Lose in semi-finals

This is shaping up to be a season where a lot of different things can possibly happen. What will be the end result of the 30 league matches and all the Department Cup matches? If you know, please tell me so I can use you for next year's predictions topic and maybe not ****so badly.

Turning the Page: Allen wins Silver Cap (15/05/2008 00:55)
At the beginning of this season, there was discussion of transferring Allen Page to get a money windfall for the youngster who seemed to have an attractive value to both the seller and potential buyers. Today, Allen page was rewarded the Silver Cap for being the best performing 17 year old in International 5/62. This is the first individual award that has been awarded to a Dorchester FC player since the new management took over, despite a major winning streak that lasted nearly half a season last year. Page, when told of his award over the phone by manager T.K. Bomber, was happy to hear that he had won the award, but not surprised seeing as only one other 17 year old, Traeff FK midfielder Christian Nordahl, was in contention for the award.

Page had 5 goals on the year compared to Nordahl's 1 goal while playing four more games and had 4 assists to Nordahl's 5. The nearest 17 year old players to either Page or Nordahl had played fewer games then either player had assists for the year. We here have a feeling that both of these players will be making noise for their respective teams for seasons to come.

InSaNiTy Reigns at Department Cup Final (14/05/2008 18:26)
Coming into the final, many felt that InSaNiTy were the heavy favorites due to all the facts. They were the International 5/62 reigning champions, they had beaten the 2nd place team Flying Snails, who also were promoted up into Divsion 4/16, in the cup's semi-finals. Their opponents, Dorchester FC, while beating 4th place Of Per Zia in the semi-finals, were seen as a team that would fall for the third time to the superior InSaNiTy side. To nobody's shock, InSaNiTy proved everyone correct by beating Dorchester FC 2-1 in a game that was not as close as the score indicates.

David Silva got a nice throw from Mantas Kazlauskas and shot it by Tom Fogg to make the score 1-0 in the 9th minute. Fernando Torres made it 2-0 in the 51st minute after an unbelievable play where he somehow squeezed the ball and himself between Mark Rovers and Travis Trevino to get the easy shot. Alfredo Rodriguez made it 2-1 in the 62nd minute after a great throw-in by Claude Simmons. However that was the last shot Dorchester FC would get on the day and InSaNiTy won the Department Cup Trophy.

The Dorchester FC players were upset at the way they played this game. "To allow 10 total shots and have 7 of those be on target is no way to beat a team as talented as InSaNiTy is," remarked Mark Rovers. "There was no way that Torres should've been able to get between me and Trevs (Trevino) for that second goal. If we stop him there, we might be holding that trophy right now. All I have to say is we'll be back next year, and we'll be more prepared for this tournament then the rest of the league will."

Congratulations on a great tournament victory by InSaNiTy, and good luck to them and Flying Snails in International 4/16 next season. Hopefully we'll be seeing you there soon..

Season 35 Predictions: How well did I do? (12/05/2008 19:49)
Well, it is the end of the season boys and girls, and whatever else is out there. That means it is time to see how well I was able to predict who would be where at the beginning of the season. This will be scored kind of like golf. I get 1 point for every spot I was off on a team by in either direction. The lower the score is, the more likely it is that I can pretend to be a psychic and maybe get paid five bucks to read someone's palm (Bloggers' note: As long as you say they have a long lifeline they will be happy)

http://www.managerleague.com/ml/tables.pl?t=5870306
(Sorry for the copy and paste job you guys have to do but the link only linked to the general tables page, which I believe sends you to your table. Any help on how to bypass that would be appreciated for future prediction summaries)
Numbers in parenthesis are where they finished the season at
1. Insanity (1)
2. Flying Snails (2)
3. traeff fk (8)
4. Lura IL (12)
5. forzaRBK (14)
6. Of Per Zia (4)
7. Tanjong Pagar FC (7)
8. huse mitt (5)
9. Dorchester FC (6)
10. Pool Man (3)
11. Espantas (9)
12. wapitis (11)
13. matchteam fc (15)
14. FC Telsiai (13)
15. Sunhill (16)
16. Amsterdam FC (10)

By my math I did on the calculator my score for this season is 50. Here are some stats about the numbers
Average of how far I was off a team's spot: 3.125 spots
Teams I got exactly correct: 3 (InSaNiTy, Flying Snails, Tanjong Pagar FC)
Team furthest away from predicted spot: forzaRBK (9 spots away)

Despite the seemingly utter failure I am at being psychic, even with three predictions being spot on, I will do another one for season 36. Why? I'm doing it for two reasons.
A.) It gives me something to base my first, and possibly second, weekend reports off of.
B.) I am a glutton for punishment

Will I be able to predict International 5/62 better next year then I did this year? Where in the rankings will my beloved Dorchester FC Magpies be when season 36 is done? Who will be the team that will surprise us all and says "Screw the rules, I have green hair"? Well, we'll see in a few weeks guys. Hopefully you will put up with my incessant writings long enough to find out. Later everyone.

Dorchester FC Team Summary (10/05/2008 19:35)
This article is all about how the Dorchester FC team looks going into the future and what positions are strong, and which ones need some strengthening when that can be done. Having such a low budget means that moves can not come as quickly as I would personally hope, but with a little luck and training, this team will be topping International 5/62 in a few seasons.

Goalie: While Warren Gonzalez is definitely a 6th division goaltender on a 5th division team, he is a young player and is only used sparingly as my backup so right now he is good. Tom Fogg was without a doubt the best free agent signing I made in my 2 season tenure with the team as he is rapidly improved to a 73Q goalie with an 80 KP rating. If he improves as much as he has this year from last a couple of more years, he will be the star of this team.

Defense: I would have to say that this is the main position that I have on my team right now. Half of my defenders have gained 3-4Q from where they were last year, and the rest of them have gained 2 Q. This is the team's position of strength, even though I have just average in the goals against department this season. As long as these guys can stay healthy and continue to grow, I should not need to use any of my bankroll on another defender for the team.

Midfielder: This was my main concern coming into this season. I only had 3 guys 65 or above at the position, and that doesn't cut it in the 5th division. At least with Allen Page coming in I had a 4th midfielder who would be decent at midfielder. In reality, he is probably my only future option in years to come as most of my midfielders are training horribly behind the rest of the team. A major shakeup might happen at this position yet, but I'll see what happens after the next few training camps before I decide anything either way. After all, I was about to trade my best midfielder away and trust the guys here who are seemingly lacking in good training.

Attackers: This position is the middle position on my team, not including goaltender, despite having the weakest top performer. Alfredo Rodriguez is not getting any younger, so the developments that Kenneth Haney and Patrick Abbott have made are good signs going ahead. Abbott needs more training to be considered a starter, but he has filled the role of occasional substitute/fill-in attacker quite nicely when he has been needed. An acquisition in this position might be made down the road, but will most likely be done after the possible midfielder rehaul.

I expect a position in the table much like I had this year going into next year. The glaring difference between my record against bottom teams and the better teams shows that I have some work to do before we challenge for promotion. Course, if moving up in division was easy, the game would be very boring.

Staying on Track: Magpies Clinch 5/62 Spot (08/05/2008 19:26)
At the beginning of the season it looked like Dorchester FC would be locked into a fight the whole season to keep their spot in Division 5 Department 62. So by clinching their return ticket to 5/62 with three games remaining in the season, Dorchester FC have exceeded everyone's expectations. Even though they were predicted 8th to 10th by most publications, an 0-2-2 start made many wonder if this team had the skills to stay in a very tight league. They were able to win five straight after that stretch, but people were waiting for what their team could do on the road seeing as four games of the five game streak were played at The Park at Dorchester. Recent wins have pushed that road record up to 5-3-6, and the fifth win was enough to clinch at least 10th.

Another knock about the streak was that the teams they were winning against were all in the second half of the standings. That knock was pretty much true as the team has somehow clinched this early despite their 2-4-6 record against the other teams in the top eight. This is where the team will need improving if it wants a chance to earn promotion to the 4th division next year.

NOTE: The weekend roundup this time will include position by position team breakdown instead of playoff prediction. With week 30 not being played until after the weekend, most of the spots are looking like they will go to the last match, making playoff thoughts impossible since so few teams are clinched.

Magpies Earn First Ever Birth into Cup Finals (07/05/2008 19:04)
Dorchester FC had been given the title of the home team at Cup Stadium for their semi-final against Of Per Zia by the random draw of the tournament. While the crowd was split down the middle pretty evenly, Dorchester FC showed how well it has played home games all year, 8-3-1 at the Park at Dorchester, as they defeated Of Per Zia 3-1 in front of 35,000 soccer fans. Dorchester FC took an early lead seven minutes in as Freddie Gamble received the Edgar Blackwell free kick and sent it into the back of the net. Team leading goal scorer Alfredo Rodriguez made it 2-0 in the 41st minute off of another excellent free kick by Edgar Blackwell. Blackwell got a hat trick of assists in the 48th minute of play, making a nice pass to rookie phenom Allen Page who sent the ball rocketing into the net giving Dorchester FC a 3-0 lead. Of Per Zia showed fight in the end as Felisberto Oliviera received a stunning pass from Francisco Jesus in the 74th minute and beat Tom Fogg to make it 3-1 Magpies. However, play was kept to the midfield for the rest of the game and Dorchester FC held on.

Manager T.K. Bomber loved the result but went on to say that he hopes it was not the given "home-field" that propelled the team to a win. "I know that today's win has given this team confidence that they can beat a team at the level of Of Per Zia twice in one year. I just hope that being the away team in the finals does not resonate at all with my players. In the cup it means absolutely nothing except that we wear different uniforms to the park. We need to be at the top of our game to win as this will be InSaNiTy's last game at division 5 and we don't want them leaving with the cup."

InSaNiTy has not yet clinched 1st place as it is six points ahead of Flying Snails with five games remaining on the schedule. However with only two draws and one loss this year, it looks highly unlikely that they will lose enough points to give them the chance to catch up. This game will be the last major test to see if Dorchester FC might contend for a division 4 berth next year, or be in a similar position as this year.

Division 5/62 Second Weekend Roundup (04/05/2008 00:23)
Just so the preview for this round-up, unlike the last one, only shows predictions made about 2 weeks prior I'll explain. Unlike last week, I'm not writing up paragraphs on every variance. I will just acknowledge it before I make some other statements about various teams. Hopefully I can find that happy medium of a roundup that keeps people informed, but not drag on. Anyways here is that old prediction chart from the preseason again.

Division 5/62 table predictions
1. Insanity
2. Flying Snails
3. traeff fk
4. Lura IL
5. forzaRBK
6. Of Per Zia
7. Tanjong Pagar FC
8. huse mitt
9. Dorchester FC
10. Pool Man
11. Espantas
12. wapitis
13. Sun Hill (matchteam FC)
14. FC Telsiai
15. Sunhill
16. Amsterdam FC

Teams better then expected (3 or more above predicted ranking)
- Amsterdam FC (predicted 16th, currently 9th)
- huse mitt (predicted 8th, currently 5th)
-Pool Man (predicted 10th, currently 3rd)

Teams worse then expected (3 or more below predicted ranking)
- forzaRBK (predicted 5th, currently 14th)
- Lura IL (predicted 4th, currently 7th)
- Tanjong Pagar FC (predicted 7th, currently 10th)
- traeff fc (predicted 3rd, currently 6th)

Notes:
- 5/62 has a very top heavy format it seems. The top 3 teams combined have fewer losses then all but three teams, which have the same amount. Those teams are huse mitt in 5th, traeff fc in 6th, and Amsterdam FC in 9th. Only Of Per Zia has a realistic chance of changing the top 3 spots any and it will take a decent downward turn by Pool Man to make it happen. Past 5 games combined for the top 3 teams in 5/62 is an unbelievable 12-3-0.

- Amsterdam FC has taken the downturn that was predicted last week, but is still undefeated in its last 5 games. By securing draws in its last 5 games, it has stayed ahead of relegation playoffs, by 4 points over Espantas and FC Telsiai. It has allowed a tied for 4th fewest goals with only 11, compared to the two teams right ahead of them Lura IL with 30 goals allowed and Dorchester FC with 26 goals allowed. Its 17 goals scored however, are the lowest amount for any team above automatic relegation.

Department Cup semifinals (league standing)
Dorchester FC (8) vs Of Per Zia (4)
Flying Snails (2) vs InSaNiTy (1)

Next week: A look at the promotions in and out of 5/62 including playoff predictions. Also, a look at how good/bad my pre-season predictions look (Barring last game circumstances)

Dorchester moves on to Semis (30/04/2008 17:55)
Another Department Cup game, another penalty kick shootout, another Dorchester FC win in this run in the 5/62 Department Cup. In a surprisingly defensive game after these teams combined for 10 goals in round 1, neither team had a goal up until the game went to penalties. Goalie Tom Fogg earned Man of the Match honors as he kept all 5 penalties out of net and allowed a Magpie team that no shots on target in 120 minutes of play, win a nailbiter. Dorchester FC is the lowest standing team in the league that has made the semi-finals, despite not facing a team above them in the league. Their next game is against 4th place Of Per Zia who rolled to a 5-0 win over Espantas.

This win, combined with a 6-4-5 record, good for 6th in the league, have the fans happy about this year. Though a 1-2-2 record in the last 5 have players and the manager a bit anxious. "We're only 3 points about 11th right now," said manager T.K. Bomber. "I feel that we need to play better then current form if we want to avoid the relegation playoff." Goalie Tom Fogg agrees with this sentiment. "We have scored 1 goal in regulation the last 3 games, and that was on a penalty. I know this team is much better then that when it comes to scoring, and hopefully the team training focusing on our attack works. It's not a lack of effort on the shooters' parts, just sometimes the ball won't go in." With a home game against league leader InSaNiTy up next, Dorchester FC will have to find the shooters' touch fast if they want to win.

Division 5/62 First Weekend Roundup (26/04/2008 18:41)
Division 5/62 table predictions
1. Insanity
2. Flying Snails
3. traeff fk
4. Lura IL
5. forzaRBK
6. Of Per Zia
7. Tanjong Pagar FC
8. huse mitt
9. Dorchester FC
10. Pool Man
11. Espantas
12. wapitis
13. Sun Hill (matchteam FC)
14. FC Telsiai
15. Sunhill
16. Amsterdam FC

Those were my league predictions coming into the beginning of the year. Looking at the standings right now some of them look perfect while others look like brain farts, not to mention I put Sunhill twice instead of matchteam FC where the misspelling of Sunhill was. Let's look at the movers and shakers so far this season.

(Writers' note: All teams put in either category of better or worse then expected are 3 spots different then the prediction sheet above and not an accurate measure of teamplay and talent.)

Better then expected
Amsterdam FC (predicted 16th; currently 4th)
-The team to end all teams apparently lies in Amsterdam where the football club has pulled off a surprising start to the year going 4-4-1.I figured that midfield would be their major undoing along with no decent backups on defense and seemingly the same starting 11 every game leading to injuries. It is still possible this will happen with two midfielders at 84 health, a defensemen injured with 75, and a key striker at 89. However, there is no way this team finishes worse then 13th in my book as they should get enough points to use their start to stay about the red line. If the team's manager gets more active, this team can be top 6 with what should be high morale.

Pool Man (predicted 10th; currently 3rd)
- Why oh why did I doubt the ability of an active manager in the 5th division? After the top 4 teams in the 6th division department I was in being active, I should've figured them for top 5. Their 5-4-0 record is a surprise, but not as much as my chart makes it. This team's only weakness in my eyes is the lack of a second goalie possibly causing problems with a poor team money-wise if the unthinkable happens and the goalie goes down for the count. Good management of players is enough for this team as its starters stay healthy with proper rotation. Top 5 as I mentioned earlier is a distinct possibility with a playoff appearance possible if injuries do not come.

Worse then expected
traeff fc (predicted 3rd; currently 6th)
- This team is not far points wise from where I thought they would be, one more draw would have them in a tie for 4th. This team's strength of balance should see them through injuries without a problem and gain them a few extra wins. This is a team that can bounce back, again the Law of Active Managers comes to mind, and I feel will be another top 5 team with a promotion playoff chance.

forzaRBK (predicted 5th; currently 11th)
- This must have been a homer pick as I went with the other promoted team from Division 6/246 to finish top 5. I am rethinking that part of the pick, but they are nowhere as bad as their current standing in the league. They have the same weakness as most of the average teams in this league, lack of depth beyond a starting 11 and only playing 11 players the whole year will run these good players down near the end. It looks like 7th or 8th seems to be more this team's range, but they can be 9th or 10th is possible if they get the injury bug.

Tanjong Pagar FC (predicted 7th; currently 12th)
- This team confuses me to no end. They leave some of their best players on the bench, and run a constant starting 11 with weaker players and play below their level. Even when these weaker players get injured, the best defender stays on the bench in favor of a player who has -13 in overall and -22 at tackling. They can be better, but the way they are run, or more accurately not run, this team looks like it will be in the relegation playoffs unless the game manages to put the best foot forward.

wapitis (predicted 12th; currently 15th)
- I felt this team would be weak, but its much more major case of the bench the best players disease has kept it winless and with zero hope. I honestly feel that Sunhill will beat someone, hopefully not me next round at the Park at Dorchester but someone, and finish ahead of this team. If this team gets new management it can do better, but I think not enough to avoid at minimum relegation playoffs, and most likely the automatic relegation spots.

Next Saturday I will do more of the same as I will see how the tables have shifted and how many of these teams are still in these positions. Think there will be another blog written before then, but you never know.

Answering the Bell (24/04/2008 23:03)
Many people around Dorchester wondered how would their team answer the challenge laid out by the board after their 0-2-2 start in the league. Was it a smart idea to threaten a team, with over half of its starters 22 years or younger, with transfers if the season continued on the way it was? Obviously the answer was yes, and even with a 4-game winning streak, including a league cup win, this team is still not satisfied. "We won how many games in a row last year?" asked team captain Alfredo Rodriguez. "We feel we can do that again as long as this team stays focused on its goal. We didn't have that focus so the board decided to beat it into us, and I'm glad they did."

Dorchester FC have won four games in a row, but none of those games have been against teams with better records then them. "We're glad to have won 4 games in a row," said midfielder Edgar Blackwell. "But we know to go anywhere in this league we can not go winless against the top 5-6 teams. We're not going to win every game against the relegation zone teams, so we need to create a buffer between us and them by beating the top teams." The next match-up against a top six team comes in four rounds at the MELCODROM where the Magpies are hosted by the Flying Snails who are 5-2-0 and in second place. They have scored 22 goals and only allowed 3 in the young season.

Dorchester FC moves on in Department Cup (23/04/2008 17:38)
After 120 minutes of play could not separate Dorchester FC and FC Telsiai in their Department Cup game, penalty kicks saved the day as Dorchester FC won 6-5 (3-2 penalties). Here is how the penalties went

Dorchester FC                                                                                     FC Telsiai                                                  ( X = made, O = missed)
Alfredo Rodriguez   X                                                                          Mantas Lapeikis       X
Freddie Gamble     O                                                                          Laisvydas Stancius  O
Claude Simmons   X                                                                          Marius Sidlauskas   O
Allen Page               X                                                                           Valdas Duonela        X
Edgar Blackwell     O                                                                           Saulius Ragauskas O

The win came at the perfect time for Dorchester FC, who was reeling from an 0-2-2 league start. The players hope this is the game that turns the season around. "We needed this win pretty badly," said midfielder Allen Page. "This was a total team effort and it was a message to the league that we will not just lie down like what our previous record up here showed." He declined to make any further remarks about his possible transfer depending on how the team does in the early third of the season.
Manager T.K. Bomber was excited about his team's result. "This game came down to who wanted it more, so I'm proud that we won that game. Management was whispering to me how these cup games bring us extra revenue then the league games, so they wanted us to get at least into Round 2. Personally, to me every game we play is important so to get the result was sweet on two levels."

The next opponent for Dorchester FC in the cup is Tanjong Pagar FC. If the results of this round details what type of match we're in for next round, the game between these two teams will be an exciting, high scoring affair. Tanjong beat traeff fc, who are undefeated in the league, 5-4 (4-3 penalties) to advance.

Rough Start to new Season, Transfers Upcoming? (22/04/2008 04:21)
Dorchester FC has had a rough start to season 35 as they have suffered an opening day loss to InSaNiTy 3-0 away and gave up a penalty shot to earn a draw at home against traeff fc 1-1. The team is not feeling as down about this as you might expect however. "We knew our opening schedule would be hard, with some of the hardest teams in our league playing us early," said manager T.K. Bomber. However, that is no excuse for giving up a penalty in a game I felt we were controlling. We had a very good team on the ropes in traeff fc and we gave away 2 points. We need wins early to build our record so we can get out of the relegation zone. Anything less then that right now is unacceptable.

Management is considering selling its new talent midfielder Allen Page (Player ID: 5911821) depending on results in the next few games. The board gave us this message. Depending on how this team does in the next 4-6 matches, Allen Page might be better for this team as a chip to bring in slightly older and similarly talented players as opposed to helping out our team on the field. We value Mr. Page at what we are told he is worth, but if the teams fortunes stay similar, we might need to look at our options. Other players can be sold, but our analysts say that Mr. Page is the ideal candidate for a transfer since many clubs value youth and a good talent level that we believe he has. We wish our team good luck in its games and hopefully we can keep this team on its winning ways from last season.

Season 35 Predictions (17/04/2008 17:45)
After moving up and getting a pretty nice youth player at my weakest position, the midfield, season 35 is starting off with the breaks that got me up to Division 5. Well the team could possibly be stronger, that will have to be done through training as the team currently has limited funds to work with. Right off the bat, it looks like this will not be a championship or even a playoff year, as there are 3, possibly 4, strong line-ups that can go 22-5-3 or something to the degree of 20 wins to 4 to 6 losses. It is looking more like a season where I will stay middle of the table and make decent money as I upgrade my facilities to where I can make a few hundred thousand bucks a home game.

Team record for season 35: 12-9-9 for 45 points and 9th place

Cup run: Eliminated in 2nd round

Division 5/62 table predictions
1. Insanity
2. Flying Snails
3. traeff fk
4. Lura IL
5. forzaRBK
6. Of Per Zia
7. Tanjong Pagar FC
8. huse mitt
9. Dorchester FC
10. Pool Man
11. Espantas
12. wapitis
13. Sun Hill
14. FC Telsiai
15. Sunhill
16. Amsterdam FC

It was hard to put in the last 12 with a lot of even teams, but I feel I fit them in nicely. There's a team or two in my relegation zone that can prove me wrong without a doubt since outside the top 2 to 3 teams, there is no dominating team. All I know is that this will be an exciting year no matter what happens in the end.

Moving on Up & Why People Complain (15/04/2008 16:58)
With earlier today's 3-0 win over Petre FC, Dorchester FC is moving up to Division 5 in the first year of T.K. Bomber's management. Two goals by budding superstar Edgar Blackwell in the 12th and 51st minutes and and a goal by Freddie Gamble in the 84th minute ensured the Magpies of moving to 5/62 next year. "This is a great moment for this franchise," said T.K. Bomber. "Everyone on this team knew it was possible even before I showed up in the middle of the year to take over for the former manager. The team was in 4th and already on a good roll of victories. I just helped get a couple of extra players and boost morale to put the team over the top. These guys earned their victory and will be ready for the challenges that the 5th division brings.

We hope that the team is able to continues its success in the 5th division. While it will be hard to be promoted two years in a row, we wish at minimum that this is more then a one season stay at Division 5.

Speaking of the playoffs, I was reading the newspaper and saw the Wrong wrong WRONG article written by Missing Links UTD and it made me chuckle. Is it hard to lose a game in the final moments with so much riding on it? No one in their right mind would say that they wouldn't be a little annoyed. But, to go so far as saying the game is cheating for the opposition is ridiculous. The game does not care who wins a playoff game for a promotion, a Department Cup, or anything else that ML offers.Saying that is a bit over the top, and completely asinine. Now why do people do it? Most likely because they hate to see themselves as the reason their team lost. Maybe it was passing up a 69-72 Q 18 year old that was teamless, or not adding a veteran presence to a younger team, or just simply leaving in a fatigued player that you thought would get better after training and went to 88 fitness instead. Every game we influence our teams' performance for better or worse and that is why this game is so interesting.

Congratulations go out to the following teams who will also be making the move up to Division 5 Department 62 next year. They are Tanjong Pagar FC, forzaRBK, Amsterdam FC, matchteam fc, and Sunhill.

Chance at Promotion (15/04/2008 04:00)
I realized that writing headlines on the newspaper part for Dorchester FC would be repetitive, so instead all articles will be written here save things of my choosing.

In round 33 of play, Dorchester FC was able to defeat Los Huachones 3-1. It was 1-0 at halftime as Alfredo Rodriguez scored in the 13th minute off the free kick by Marc Rovers. It stayed that way until the 73rd minute when Russell Conrad scored his 2nd goal of the year. Los Huachones got the score to 2-1 two minutes later when Adrian Malbec scored off a Damir Vancsik free kick. In the 82nd minutes, the Magpies put it out of reach off the boot of Edgar Blackwell.

Manager T.K. Bomber was happy about the result, but not with the 3 yellow cards his team earned. "We need to play more disciplined soccer if we want to win promotion. Tough play earned us this victory, but without smart play we will not be able to keep up the run we've had the second half of this season." The players seem to agree with that sentiment. "I will have to be more careful with my challenges in the future," Edgar Blackwell said. "I feel the goal made up for the error in judgment, but I know coach will still be hard on us about it going into the big game. We believe we can earn promotion as long as we play to our talent level."

The opponent for the biggest game of the season is Petre FC, who lost 3 straight games at the end of the year to finish one point out of  safety, including a heartbreaker on the final day to wapitis, who started the day needing a win to stay in Division 5. "Petre is a better team then its recent run shows." said T.K. Bomber. "They have had injury problems this year which have taken out some of their stars. We expect to see everything but the kitchen sink thrown at us as we'd expect of any team trying to stay in a higher league. We'll have our best ready and hope to take their spot, but no matter what I'll be proud of this team and the amazing play we've had to this point."
