Is being relegated better than staying up? (03/03/2010 19:03)

Recently managers have mentioned to me that they would rather go down than stay up as it will help their team by gaining credits and prize money in lower divisons. Not sure if there's other benefits. Please feel free to comment if you know more.

It made me think. Can staying up really be worse for my team than going down?  There must also be benefits to staying up?

Now I want to win. Plus there is the pride of not going down.

So I was left thinking. Is my attempt to stay up harming my teams future?

I think I have made my mind up on what I am going to do. As I have more ambition and just don't feel right trying to lose.

I would be grateful for comments from both perspectives though.
