New ML Information
(07/08/2009 15:54)

Most important changes in New ML

It is highly recommended to use Firefox 3.5+, Opera 9.64+, Safari or Google Chrome. Internet Explorer 8 is also supported but not as fast as others.

Firstly, if you haven’t read Spinner’s Developer Diary yet, then do it now! You can reach all the chapters from here: Chapter 10.

So, have you read it all? Sure? Ok.

About the information below: this is only so… introduction. If you want to know more information, please go to every page and read their help page by clicking on the Question-mark or the Lamp. You can find these in the header or in the footer (depends on which style you have chosen). The information below does not contain any information about new gaining formula or any other "background-information". This article is only for how can you get started with new ML. You can see all the images higher if you click on them.

The first big change, as you can see, is the design. We got a new header, nicer graphics, more coloured pages. I know that somebody asked whether we can change between new and old graphics. The answer is no, because there are so many changes that it would have been difficult to save the old design, too. But we can choose between two header/footer style: a normal (with larger header, and a footer with big icons), and a compact (with compressed header, and no footer because it’s in the header :)), this option is on Preferences page. Try out both of them and decide which you would like to use.

The second that you can notice is that we got a league table to General page. If somebody argue because he thinks that the table would crash the excitement about what the result of the last match was, then I have to say that it is solved. If you have a game that you haven’t seen yet, then the league table gets a nice covering. But this feature is working only on General page, so don’t go to Tables page if you don’t want to see your position. Below the tables there is the schedule for the current season, check it and use it!

Now, let’s see the forums. I have to say that this page is almost the mostly redesigned. As until now, you can mark some forums as a favourite which you will see on General page. We got some new smileys and icons. If you start to read a thread, you’ll see other threads on the left, this is the Forum Quickview. These threads are from that sub-forum which you have selected. In the new forum, everybody’s forum avatar is shown next to his post even if he hasn’t got any. Our Devs, Admins and Moderators have got a very nice frame for their avatars, but common players  haven’t, they’ve got only a bluish frame…

The next is mailing. We got a system-sent messages and a sent items folder, too. You can see your contacts, friends and blocked managers on the right. A player will be your Contact if you send him a message. Until then he remains only a player or only on Friends page. (Attention: Contact list isn’t equal to Friends list!). Your blocked managers can’t send you any messages, so if you want to buy a player from one of them, you should unblock that manager.

We got a new Notes screen, too. Here you can see, if you add some notes of course, nice yellow papers with your notes. You can move these papers wherever you want to.

If the forums were only almost the mostly redesigned, then Team Setup page is the most. I think this page is the hardest to understand. Here, you must forget the old ML. The old drag-and-drop function isn’t working anymore. Now, you will always see your players in the list ordered by their position and quality. So don’t try to swap players on this list. Those players who have a green shirt icon next to them are in the starting 11, and those who have grey icon are the starting Subs. These players are shown on the right side pitch. You can swap players here by drag-and-drop. If you want to send a player on the pitch but he isn’t among the shirt-marked players then keep reading: you can drag any player from the the list and drop on the pitch. When you drag a player on list, you’ll see, that a big jersey will appear. This is that you have to drop on the pitch or on the Subs-side. Just some hours and you’ll see that this isn’t so complicated. To change tactics and responsibilities you have to drag-and-drop players from the pitch. If you try to drop here a player from the players list directly, it will not work. As you can see, there are two saving-possibility for Lineup 1 and Lineup 2. You can save your lineup by clicking on the green-arrowed icon and load the settings by clicking on the blue-arrowed icon. And you can also see that there are no more the-starting-11-always-get-the-1-11-numbers-on-their-shirts thing. So you can set up any numbers for every players that you want (of course, one number aren’t wearable by two or more players).

The old Team Training and Individual Training pages have been put to a single Training page. On the left, you can find individual training and statistics about gainings. On the right, you can find team training and training camp opportunities. Here, we got new icons for training programs, and got some new possibility for training camps. These are working with drag-and-drop technique.

As you probably noticed, the staff was moved under Team menu. This page works as it worked before. The only new thing is the scouts. You can no longer use scout for searching players, so this must be done by you on the Watches screen. Now, you can use scout only for scout your own players, but he can be wrong (correctness of the assessment will depend on how good the scout’s skill is and how many matches the player played that season).

If you go to Tables page, you find yourself on a really nice page. This page got a few new things, too. One of them is the Department Forum on the right. You can find here a Home-icon which you can use to go to your own department. Now, we have a Team search next to the tables and we got a redesigned My Position graph, too (you could find this on General page before).

On Friendlies page, now you can find that you wanted before. Now, the „Open Challenges Accepted” text is always visible, and you also got a statistics part to count how many matches you won in Friendlies. The only bad is that you can see only your last 30 friendlies (and you can neither see the others on Fixtures&Results page).

About the new Friends page, you can read in Developer Diary Chapter 6.

Custom Cups are now renamed to Player Cups. The page got a fully new design. You can filter these cups by a several options. On the right, you can create your own cup (to create cups for friends go to Friends page).

League Cup, Department Cup and Champions League have got a statistics page for your performance. For instance, you can find here your best appearance and longest cup run. On CL page, if once the knockout stage begin, only the group winners will be visible.

Another fully redesigned page is My Transfers page. Now, here you can see the full value and the average value of your team. You can mark a player as For sale, if you click on the green „+” sign. If you do this, on the right, the player will show up. You can change his Minimum bid and Auto-accept amounts there. If you set an Auto-accept value, the player will be sold if someone bids a higher amount than this Auto-accept value. You can delist a player by either clicking on Delist button or clicking on the red „–” sign. Your offers for other players and others bids for yours will be shown on this page, too.

Active Transfer page got a very useful filter. Here you can do everything that you can do on Player Search page, but of course you can search only those players who are already involved in a transfer-business.

Watches page was moved under Transfer menu. You can watch a player, if you click on the „Watch this Player” button on any player-popup page.

The Stadium page got the Stadium-related financial settings from Finances section. These are the Ticket Price, the Shop Profit and the Restaurant Profit. You also see some new upgrade opportunities here. They are the Medical Center, the Legal Department and Travel Accommodations. The doctors heal your injured players (if the player has over 80 Fit-points, he isn’t injured!), the lawyers try to reach that MLFA cancel your banned players’ ban. And Travel Accommodation is important to do good with your players when you travel to an away match. You can also see a statistical table on the right bottom about the performance of your stadium during home matches. Now, you can upload stadium-picture from Preferences screen.

On Sponsors page, while you don’t sign any sponsors, you can see Sponsor History which shows your previous-seasons sponsors and the money that you got from them. You can use this to choose the best sponsor for the season.

All of the Rankings was compressed into two pages: Team and Player Rankings. You can filter the rankings and you can see top performers in the world. I think I don’t have to talk too much about these pages. Compared to the old ML only the Record Transfers page is missing.

As before, you can change any of your settings on Preferences page (except password). Now, you can find here Stadium-picture uploading and Profile-picture uploading possibilities. And as I said before, you can change between the two display modes (normal and compact) here.

We got a Purchase Credits page, too. I know that we had a similar before, but now this page is in-game, so you don’t have to use ML-Portal for purchasing. I think, I don’t have to explain which button what does.

During you read these rows and you tried out almost every function, you probably noticed, that a new Team Card and Player Card function was implemented. These show you a lot of useful information about the team or the player, so you don’t need to open those popups to see, which division a team plays in, or what a player’s value is.

If you open up a Team-Info popup, you’ll see (of course a new design and) a lot of new things. You can check the Average Quality of a team or you can see the players’ avg. performance, too. Now, you can see all of the matches of the team in the season, such League Cups and CL Matches, too. On History page, you’ll see the usual Team History section, but now, you can see how many wins, draws, losts the team had in a season and how many friendlies he played. You can also see here, a Player value column which shows the total value of the team in a season. The Trophies are also compressed now, so every competition got only one block to save place.

Player-Info popup also has surprise for us. Now, instead of Cup Goals there are a separated Cup Gls (for League Cup or Department Cup goals) and an other CL Gls (for Champions League goals). Unfortunately, if you are looking at a goalkeeper’s popup there aren’t any Goals column, but it’s fun to shot goals by a goalie..:) On the left, you can see that „Watch this Player” button that I talked about at Watches section.

And of course, I can’t pass along the redesigned Match-simulator. If I’m right, a new function has been implemented. Now, the goalie can run out for a long ball to catch it, but of course he can miss it. So, from now a goalkeeper can be the Man of The Match, too. During the match we can see a live stats counter on the right and (blinking) pictures which change the stadium picture for a while when something happens (e.g. goal, yellow card or injury). At the end of the match the MOTM will be shown on a big orange-backgrounded card to see what he does in the match.

And I think this is the end. I hope you'll enjoy the new design, the new upgrades and everything, and I hope that you've found this entry useful and you've learned something from it. I wish you very successful seasons and good luck!
