Champions League, again... 19-10 UPDATE! (17/10/2006 08:45)

17-10-2006:

And once more, as always, Champions League matches will be played today and tomorrow. Yay for Mr. Football, the one who invented this extraordinary sport, which makes people want to continue (with winning matches) or ending (with losing matches) their lives. Obviously, I don't want anyone to end his/her life - you can be sure of that - but unfortunately it's just the truth that people kill themselves (or even worse: others) because 'their' club just lost the previous game... Strange world sometimes, isn't it?

Here are the results and tables of the matches played on Tuesday 17-10-06:

Group E:
Dinamo Kiev - Ol. Lyon: 0-3
St. Bucarest - Real Madrid: 1-4 (Ruud van Nistelrooy scored his 50th goal in the CL, it was a beauty)

19-10-2006:

And again, here are results and tables. This time, the ones of yesterday's matches. I wasn't able to see all the matches, but I did see - a part of - one: Galatasaray - PSV and I must say, it looks good for PSV atm. 2 away wins, 1 draw at home, 2 more home matches... Hopefully (although I'm not a fan of PSV) they will go through to the next round! Yay for Holland! Lol

Anyway, before I give you all the details, I want to mention one thing more:
My predictions for yesterday's matches...
Bordeaux - Liverpool; Galatasaray - PSV (yay for Holland, lol); Olympiakos - AS Roma; Sp. Lisboa - Bay. München; Chelsea - Barcelona; Valencia - Shakhtar Donetsk; Werder Bremen - Levski Sofia; Internationale - Spartak Moscow (Clubs in blue will win according to me, not colored means a draw - Clubs in green actually won as well)
How right I was with only 3 predictions :o Unfortunately I deleted my predictions of Tuesday's matches, so I don't know how much I had right in total... But I think it hasn't been that much! Lol

Finally, here are results and tables:

Group A:

Chelsea - Barcelona: 1-0
Werder Bremen - Levski Sofia: 2-0

1 Chelsea 3 3 0 0 9 6 - 1
2 Barcelona 3 1 1 1 4 6 - 2
3 Werder Bremen 3 1 1 1 4 3 - 3

3 Olympiakos Piraeus 3 0 1 2 1 4 - 7
4 Shakhtar Donetsk 3 0 1 2 1 2 - 8

Last, but certainly not least, I will give you some stats, just for the fun of it ;)

1) Topscorer so far is Didier Drogba (Chelsea) with 4 goals, followed by 7 players that scored 3 goals. All these players are strikers.
2) 5 teams got a winning record so far: 3 matches, 3 wins, 9 points; Chelsea, Bayern München, Valencia, Olympique Lyon and
    Manchester United.
3) The team that scored the most goals so far is Real Madrid with 9 goals, followed by Valencia and Ol. Lyon with both 8 goals.
4) The team that conceded most goals is Dinamo Kiev, already 12 goals against. Levski Sofia is 'second best' with 10 goals
against.

Byebye!

pictureClearly FC Copenhagen will drop the bomb on ManU tonight!

Ok, maybe not.But I am not so sure about CEltic defeating Benifica.

I am also quite sure Real Madrid will kick some serious Steua butt.

My beer will be cold and ready no matter what though!

I'm afraid Copenhagen will not Spinner, simply because Man Utd will win! Best club! :p ;)
I do really think though, that Celtic will win and I'm not sure at all that Real Madrid will win... They haven't got a reasl impressive record so far this season... But hey, we've got to see first of course.

At least I will have cold beer as well :)

Aww Sporting... they were crushing Bayern and yet they lost!! SO UNFAIR! Sporting only lost control of the match during 10 minutes... and suffered the goal.

Anyway, no doubt Sporting is a big surprise in the CL this year. And I believe we will make it through to the next stage! :)

pictureWell, Man Utd history regarding Cups is not bad at all to be honest:
15 Premiership Wins, 11 FA Cups, 1 League Cup, 15 Charity Shields, 4 European Cups and 1 International Cup is well done!

On the other hand, the Dutch club I'm a big fan of (AJAX) has done a nice job so far as well:
29 League Wins, 16 National Cups, 3 Johan Cruijff Shields (let's say this is the Dutch version of the Charity Shield), 9 European Cups and 2 International Cups!
