Great Scott! Bender Added to Magpie Midfield (03/06/2008 02:24)

The Dorchester FC board has announced today that they have come to terms with midfielder Scott Bender (player #6520409) to become the newest member of the Magpie squad. "While many people will look at this signing's timing and say that it was rushed, we had the scouts out in advance looking at the free agent market and the transfer market for players to add to our squad. We had another player or two that we felt would also fit our squad but neither deal was finalized before we decided to go pick up Mr. Bender. We hope that he will be a major player for our team in the years to come."

One player who is not surprised by this signing is last year's Silver Youngster Award winner Allen Page, who played with Bender on his high school team. "Scott was one of the leaders of our team when I was started playing varsity my sophomore year. He was always making sure we did our drills and was a great on the field general. While I am personally shocked that it took him this long to find a team, I am ecstatic that I get to play with him again and hopefully have the same success we did back then." Bender and Page were both on the Christ Church Episcopal School team that won the South Carolina 1A Championship in 2005.
