InSaNiTy Reigns at Department Cup Final (14/05/2008 18:26)

Coming into the final, many felt that InSaNiTy were the heavy favorites due to all the facts. They were the International 5/62 reigning champions, they had beaten the 2nd place team Flying Snails, who also were promoted up into Divsion 4/16, in the cup's semi-finals. Their opponents, Dorchester FC, while beating 4th place Of Per Zia in the semi-finals, were seen as a team that would fall for the third time to the superior InSaNiTy side. To nobody's shock, InSaNiTy proved everyone correct by beating Dorchester FC 2-1 in a game that was not as close as the score indicates.

David Silva got a nice throw from Mantas Kazlauskas and shot it by Tom Fogg to make the score 1-0 in the 9th minute. Fernando Torres made it 2-0 in the 51st minute after an unbelievable play where he somehow squeezed the ball and himself between Mark Rovers and Travis Trevino to get the easy shot. Alfredo Rodriguez made it 2-1 in the 62nd minute after a great throw-in by Claude Simmons. However that was the last shot Dorchester FC would get on the day and InSaNiTy won the Department Cup Trophy.

The Dorchester FC players were upset at the way they played this game. "To allow 10 total shots and have 7 of those be on target is no way to beat a team as talented as InSaNiTy is," remarked Mark Rovers. "There was no way that Torres should've been able to get between me and Trevs (Trevino) for that second goal. If we stop him there, we might be holding that trophy right now. All I have to say is we'll be back next year, and we'll be more prepared for this tournament then the rest of the league will."
