Dorchester FC Team Summary (10/05/2008 19:35)
This article is all about how the Dorchester FC team looks going into the future and what positions are strong, and which ones need some strengthening when that can be done. Having such a low budget means that moves can not come as quickly as I would personally hope, but with a little luck and training, this team will be topping International 5/62 in a few seasons.

Goalie: While Warren Gonzalez is definitely a 6th division goaltender on a 5th division team, he is a young player and is only used sparingly as my backup so right now he is good. Tom Fogg was without a doubt the best free agent signing I made in my 2 season tenure with the team as he is rapidly improved to a 73Q goalie with an 80 KP rating. If he improves as much as he has this year from last a couple of more years, he will be the star of this team.

Defense: I would have to say that this is the main position that I have on my team right now. Half of my defenders have gained 3-4Q from where they were last year, and the rest of them have gained 2 Q. This is the team's position of strength, even though I have just average in the goals against department this season. As long as these guys can stay healthy and continue to grow, I should not need to use any of my bankroll on another defender for the team.

Midfielder: This was my main concern coming into this season. I only had 3 guys 65 or above at the position, and that doesn't cut it in the 5th division. At least with Allen Page coming in I had a 4th midfielder who would be decent at midfielder. In reality, he is probably my only future option in years to come as most of my midfielders are training horribly behind the rest of the team. A major shakeup might happen at this position yet, but I'll see what happens after the next few training camps before I decide anything either way. After all, I was about to trade my best midfielder away and trust the guys here who are seemingly lacking in good training.

Attackers: This position is the middle position on my team, not including goaltender, despite having the weakest top performer. Alfredo Rodriguez is not getting any younger, so the developments that Kenneth Haney and Patrick Abbott have made are good signs going ahead. Abbott needs more training to be considered a starter, but he has filled the role of occasional substitute/fill-in attacker quite nicely when he has been needed. An acquisition in this position might be made down the road, but will most likely be done after the possible midfielder rehaul.

I expect a position in the table much like I had this year going into next year. The glaring difference between my record against bottom teams and the better teams shows that I have some work to do before we challenge for promotion. Course, if moving up in division was easy, the game would be very boring.
