Staying on Track: Magpies Clinch 5/62 Spot (08/05/2008 19:26)
At the beginning of the season it looked like Dorchester FC would be locked into a fight the whole season to keep their spot in Division 5 Department 62. So by clinching their return ticket to 5/62 with three games remaining in the season, Dorchester FC have exceeded everyone's expectations. Even though they were predicted 8th to 10th by most publications, an 0-2-2 start made many wonder if this team had the skills to stay in a very tight league. They were able to win five straight after that stretch, but people were waiting for what their team could do on the road seeing as four games of the five game streak were played at The Park at Dorchester. Recent wins have pushed that road record up to 5-3-6, and the fifth win was enough to clinch at least 10th.

Another knock about the streak was that the teams they were winning against were all in the second half of the standings. That knock was pretty much true as the team has somehow clinched this early despite their 2-4-6 record against the other teams in the top eight. This is where the team will need improving if it wants a chance to earn promotion to the 4th division next year.

NOTE: The weekend roundup this time will include position by position team breakdown instead of playoff prediction. With week 30 not being played until after the weekend, most of the spots are looking like they will go to the last match, making playoff thoughts impossible since so few teams are clinched.
