Dorchester moves on to Semis (30/04/2008 17:55) |
Another Department Cup game, another penalty kick shootout, another Dorchester FC win in this run in the 5/62 Department Cup. In a surprisingly defensive game after these teams combined for 10 goals in round 1, neither team had a goal up until the game went to penalties. Goalie Tom Fogg earned Man of the Match honors as he kept all 5 penalties out of net and allowed a Magpie team that no shots on target in 120 minutes of play, win a nailbiter. Dorchester FC is the lowest standing team in the league that has made the semi-finals, despite not facing a team above them in the league. Their next game is against 4th place Of Per Zia who rolled to a 5-0 win over Espantas. This win, combined with a 6-4-5 record, good for 6th in the league, have the fans happy about this year. Though a 1-2-2 record in the last 5 have players and the manager a bit anxious. "We're only 3 points about 11th right now," said manager T.K. Bomber. "I feel that we need to play better then current form if we want to avoid the relegation playoff." Goalie Tom Fogg agrees with this sentiment. "We have scored 1 goal in regulation the last 3 games, and that was on a penalty. I know this team is much better then that when it comes to scoring, and hopefully the team training focusing on our attack works. It's not a lack of effort on the shooters' parts, just sometimes the ball won't go in." With a home game against league leader InSaNiTy up next, Dorchester FC will have to find the shooters' touch fast if they want to win. |
