Moving on Up & Why People Complain (15/04/2008 16:58)

With earlier today's 3-0 win over Petre FC, Dorchester FC is moving up to Division 5 in the first year of T.K. Bomber's management. Two goals by budding superstar Edgar Blackwell in the 12th and 51st minutes and and a goal by Freddie Gamble in the 84th minute ensured the Magpies of moving to 5/62 next year. "This is a great moment for this franchise," said T.K. Bomber. "Everyone on this team knew it was possible even before I showed up in the middle of the year to take over for the former manager. The team was in 4th and already on a good roll of victories. I just helped get a couple of extra players and boost morale to put the team over the top. These guys earned their victory and will be ready for the challenges that the 5th division brings.

We hope that the team is able to continues its success in the 5th division. While it will be hard to be promoted two years in a row, we wish at minimum that this is more then a one season stay at Division 5.

Speaking of the playoffs, I was reading the newspaper and saw the Wrong wrong WRONG article written by Missing Links UTD and it made me chuckle. Is it hard to lose a game in the final moments with so much riding on it? No one in their right mind would say that they wouldn't be a little annoyed. But, to go so far as saying the game is cheating for the opposition is ridiculous. The game does not care who wins a playoff game for a promotion, a Department Cup, or anything else that ML offers.Saying that is a bit over the top, and completely asinine. Now why do people do it? Most likely because they hate to see themselves as the reason their team lost. Maybe it was passing up a 69-72 Q 18 year old that was teamless, or not adding a veteran presence to a younger team, or just simply leaving in a fatigued player that you thought would get better after training and went to 88 fitness instead. Every game we influence our teams' performance for better or worse and that is why this game is so interesting.
