Chance at Promotion (15/04/2008 04:00) |
I realized that writing headlines on the newspaper part for Dorchester FC would be repetitive, so instead all articles will be written here save things of my choosing. In round 33 of play, Dorchester FC was able to defeat Los Huachones 3-1. It was 1-0 at halftime as Alfredo Rodriguez scored in the 13th minute off the free kick by Marc Rovers. It stayed that way until the 73rd minute when Russell Conrad scored his 2nd goal of the year. Los Huachones got the score to 2-1 two minutes later when Adrian Malbec scored off a Damir Vancsik free kick. In the 82nd minutes, the Magpies put it out of reach off the boot of Edgar Blackwell. Manager T.K. Bomber was happy about the result, but not with the 3 yellow cards his team earned. "We need to play more disciplined soccer if we want to win promotion. Tough play earned us this victory, but without smart play we will not be able to keep up the run we've had the second half of this season." The players seem to agree with that sentiment. "I will have to be more careful with my challenges in the future," Edgar Blackwell said. "I feel the goal made up for the error in judgment, but I know coach will still be hard on us about it going into the big game. We believe we can earn promotion as long as we play to our talent level." The opponent for the biggest game of the season is Petre FC, who lost 3 straight games at the end of the year to finish one point out of safety, including a heartbreaker on the final day to wapitis, who started the day needing a win to stay in Division 5. "Petre is a better team then its recent run shows." said T.K. Bomber. "They have had injury problems this year which have taken out some of their stars. We expect to see everything but the kitchen sink thrown at us as we'd expect of any team trying to stay in a higher league. We'll have our best ready and hope to take their spot, but no matter what I'll be proud of this team and the amazing play we've had to this point." |
