Tempers fly at Old Trafford! (09/03/2008 13:38)

so if you saw the FA Cup match between United and Portsmouth yesterday but there was plenty to talk about on the lines of the low quality referee. now sir alex is furious over the "penalty claims" and "fouls" that were not given to his side on the day, personally i agree. now the main issue was with the use of the shoulder barging. i agree with the use of shoulder barging and it is a use of a players strength to challenge for the ball. but there is such a thing as too aggressive, and and a few accounts pompy were. so that was one controversial debate but the one that got me was the sending off of the substitute keeper Tomas Kuszczak. the allegation was that Kuszczak had taken pompy striker Milan Baros down in the area. now when i watched MOTD last night one the pundits was saying how it was a clear penalty and he got a "knee in the face for his troubles". firstly saying that is wrong, seeing as a strong enough blow to the face/head from a strong joint like the knee can concuss or at worst kill somebody? secondly i still can't see how Kuszczak deserved sending off. to me Kuszack drops and Baros jumps over him, knee's Kuszczak in the face, leaves his foot bac and simply falls over Kuszack. apart from Baros's knee in Kuszczak's face to me it doesn't even look like there was any contact between to the two. this all led to United captain Rio Ferdinand taking on the role as goalkeeper due to Van der Sar going off at half time making way for the Kuszczak, who then got sent off. although Ferdinand went the right way, Muntari struck it well and put Pompy through to the semi finals. also readers please remember this is only my opinion. what do you think about it all?
