1: Transfers

This tutorial gives you all relevant information about how transfers work in ManagerLeague. This is one of the most important parts of the game, so make sure you understand how these things work. Understanding this will certainly increase your chances to become one of the best managers in ManagerLeague. Read this tutorial carefully, and you will learn a lot.

Selling a player

If you want to sell a player, the player needs to be on the transfer-list. Go to My Transfers in the menu, find the player you wish to sell, and click the little plus-button. Then fill in the values for minimum-bid and auto-accept, and click the 'List-player' button.

In most cases, the default minimum-bid value can be used. If it is a very special player you should consider setting this a bit higher. Any bids below the set value will be auto-rejected. The auto-accept-value specifies the amount required to ensure there is a sale. Once this amount has been bid, the seller can no longer reject the bid, and the deal will go through after the highest bid has been standing for 6 hours. Players with a sensible auto-accept-value will usually attract more bidders, and setting it too high might scare off a lot of potential buyers. Use the Transfer forum if you want to advertise your players to other managers.

Buying a player

You can only bid on players that are on the transfer-list. If you have found what you are looking for, just click on the player-name. The player-info pops up and you can place a bid. There is always a minimum amount you have to bid. This minimum-bid is either 70% of his calculated value, the Minimim-bid amount the owner has set, or, if there are other bids, 5% more than the current highest bid. Please note that the manager holding the highest bid for a player can not withdraw it. Once the highest bid has been standing for 6 hours, the seller can accept it or it may be auto-accepted.

2: Time

Any bid must stand for 6 hours before it can be accepted or auto-accepted. Every bid will simply extend the time-limit by another 6 hours. So buying a player can take anywhere from 6 hours to several days. Most transfers are completed within 12 hours though.

When 6 hours have passed, the seller can accept the highest bid. If there is an Auto-Accept value for this player (and the highest bid meet the required value) the transfer goes through automatically after those 6 hours.

All bids at the end of a season will be brought over into the new season.

3: Active Transfers and Watches

Active Transfers should be used to search for players that currently have a bid and are close to being sold. If you wonder how much other managers pay for certain players, you can have a look at it here. Choose your search-criteria, and the player`s role, and have a look at all active transfers for the kind of player you are interested in. This can help you both when selling players and when buying players. As said above, it can be very advantageous to know the current market-price when you want to trade players.

If you open the Player-Details window of any player in the game, you have the option to 'Watch' a player. This player is then displayed in your Watches-section and contains a detailed view of all his stats and any changes to these since you started watching him. This is a powerful tool to measure a players long-term potential for player-developement. You can also easily compare two players on this page. In addition, your scout-reports are saved on this page (for a maximum of 30 days).

Both of these sections can be of great assistance when buying and selling players in ManagerLeague!

4: Practical issues

On rare occasions, a selling team is prevented from accepting a bid due to having only 18 players. Other times, the buyer might have spent his money elsewhere, and can no longer pay the offered amount.

If this is a case where Auto-Accept is involved, a 12-hour time-limit will be initiated. If the situation can not be resolved after that second time-limit, the highest bid is deleted. If Auto-Accept is not involved, the highest bid will be deleted when the seller tries to accept the bid. If there is another lower offer for the player, that will now be the highest bid, and the seller must decide if he wants to accept that in stead or wait for a higher one.

5: Good to know

An image An image

- You can not buy players whose quality is too high. The Q can be max 9.9 higher than your average squad quality.

- You can not sell players to teams that play on the same IP-address.

- Unsigned players join your team as soon as you have bid their value. You must pay 1 credit when you buy unsigned players, but in return you don't have to worry about others trying to buy the same player.

- You can buy 4 new players in one season without any team-stat penalty. If you buy 5 or more, all your team-stats will be reduced with every purchase!

- If you refuse an offer for one of your players, this player gets deleted from transfer-list and can not be set for sale for 14 days.

- If the player hasn`t been sold 3 days after the last bid was made, all bid gets deleted automatically, also leading to the 14 days mentioned above.

- Your chairman might not allow you to buy a player that you really do not need, specially if he is both old and of low quality.

6: Tips

- Do not set too high values for minimum-bid or auto-accept. People might be not interested in overpriced players. Searching for similar players on the transfer-list, and comparing their prices, will give you an idea about their 'market value'.

- There is little point in trying to sell players with low quality, as very few would want to buy them. The best course of action would be to sack them or improve their skills.

- If you are interested in buying a certain player, try to get in contact with the seller. You can discuss the price and you can make sure that the seller is really online and ready to sell.

- Do not send messages to other managers about players you want to sell. This is regarded as spam, and may get your team locked!

- Using NEWS to promote players for sale is not allowed either.

- Some managers in ManagerLeague make deals with credits, so called credit-deals. They pay a certain price and donate credits to the selling team. We do not support this kind of deals, and you make such deals at your own risk. That said, we can be pretty unkind to people who are unkind to others.

- You can not place bids you can not cover with your current amount of money. If you have 50 millions and have already placed a bid of 30, you can only place a bid of 20 millions for another player. Remember this before you start bidding on several different players!
