It is half way through Season 89. So far it has been an easy run for Hindustan Warriors, with no real competition in the department. 15 rounds complete, and we are leading the table comfortably with 6 clear points.

Newly promoted to Division 5, the club management did not have high hopes about the aims and targets for Season 89. It was only the club's second season in ManagerLeague and even if they managed to avoid relegation, it was considered a good achievement. And keeping that in mind, they signed a contract with Frydaze which gave them the maximum sponsorship money based on such expectations. Moreover, with a team of average quality less than 70, even finishing 10th was looking not so easy.

We defenitely needed better players to reinforce the squad for the campaign, and it was almost impossible to attract star players to the team of such a small reputation. And afterall good players cost good money, and it was too much an ask for a small club like ours. After a bit of wheeling in the transfer market, we had to settle for 4 old but good players relative to the squad's strength at that point. And a Q65 17yr old goalkeeper came through the youth system, the manager decided to go with him as the main GK for the season, as he was better that our other two GKs.

The start was shaky, and we always lined up our best team and hoped for the best. The first two matches were draws, the young GK did not perform well, and the players were not feeling confident at all. But we never gave up. We played practice matches until we all got exhausted, trained till late in the evening, and the hard work finally began to pay off.

The players started to get better, and we started to perform well. A series of wins and away draws, now we stand in a position were we can boast ourselves, to such an extend that even syaing that we will get promoted wont be much of an exaggeration. Now our management even regrets the fact that we did not go for a sponsor that pays good money for getting promoted!

The club's league position has changed, and so has the targets for the season. The club infrastructure has been developed for better revenue, stadium capacity is more now and it is all going well to set the stage for the big times. With winning matches becoming more of a routine, the players are now more focussed on getting better quality, so that they can put up a competitions against the tough Division 4 teams once they get promoted. Let us do our part and then hope for the best.
