Coming change to Player-Cups (07/12/2009 04:21) |
We have been preparing a little game-update for you, that is planned to be released this coming Friday. One of the areas that will be affected is Player-Cups. To try to reduce the amount of confusion, I thought it would be a good idea to show you the changes in advance, to see if any comments might hint at anything being "unclear". This is the cups-page as you know it today, where you search for, join or create cups. I have highlighted the lower left section, as that is the area here which has been modified. In this example, I have joined The Other Cup, but it has not yet started. Now then, as soon as that cup has drawn its first set of fixtures, this lower left section actually splits into two smaller section, as the next picture reveals: Some bright head on the forums came up with this idea...Now you track your progress in the cup with no chance of ruining your potential new fixtures, as you have a box showing you your Recent Results. So, if you wish to just remain out here on the basic Player-Cups page, you can see the results here as they come in. Yay! And in this example, after 2 rounds, mine looked like this! So, my first result wasn't all that exciting, but I stumbled into Jijikent in the second round...And I won't know how that worked out, until I actually click Watch to see the match-details. "Now hold on a second, this is the normal Player-Cups page. This isn't the one I use. I use the one showing the cup-details with all the fixtures and all the results! Surely you must have...." Yes yes yes, of course we have a little something for you too. First, the illustration of the Cup-Details page then, how it looks today, so we're all "on the same page" (pun intended). Again, I have highlighted the section that we will be dealing with. This section used to list the participants before the cup starts (and it still will). Then, it has normally shown the fixtures and results. And it would show you your next fixture before you would have the time to check if you actually won...Daft...So then, let's assume we fast-forward a bit, and pretend that the first round has been played. Now let's see what would happen: Whoa! Starting at the top then, the My Results area is now just that, it will never show ANY fixtures. So all secrets are safe! The middle section will now show all the results. As it turns out, this cup was a bad example, as my team had a bit of a walkover (no opponent) in this first round, but you get the idea. Now then, the bottom section is certainly a it different from before. Well, not too much really...Except it's all covered up! So, after you have checked how you match went, you can simply click on the cover, and it will slide up to reveal teh next set of fixtures...Like so... And, what do you know, as I said earlier, I'm about to face Jijikent, in the semi-finals, to see if he is any good. Of course, me being me and all that, I already know he isn't, but lets see what happens... As you can see, we have played our match now, but I don't know who won yet. Well, since it's me against Jijikent, I sort of know, but you get the point. Lets just pretend now then, that The Spinners kicked CS Cizme DEVs behinds, and Headless Developers had a ball (pun intended AGAIN!) with the "less-than-popular" front of something, and so we went on to play in the finals....Now then...After that one, this would happen: Whoa! We figured there was little point of having any fixtures in the bottom section at this stage, as the cup is finished..So, while I enjoy watching the match-report over and over and over and over....Let's pretend we clicked that last sliding panel... Aww, what do you know! Blimey! So, there it is...As you can see, you can reveal fixtures or the champion without looking at the match-reports if you would just get right to the result. Now, one little thing you might want to know...This hiding-business will only apply to the teams who are actually IN the cup...If you are just looking at some cup you have not joined, all the fixtures etc will be revealed as soon as they are ready... Pretty neat, huh? I'll be back with more on Wednesday (whichhappenstobemybirthdaysobuylotsofcreditssochairmancanbuymeanicepresent!). Feel free to comment, or ask questions if anything was unclear or hard to understand.... |
