Developer Diary, Part 2 (14/02/2009 21:19)
In the last Developer Diary, I mentioned what areas we are we are working on, and what our goals are for the coming update.

In this second part, I will stick to a single topic, which is Transfers.
It can be very frustrating to wait for a bid to be accepted, but it can be equally frustrating to find out exactly how much a player will cost you.
Often, players may drown in a search-result, and so we will try to make it a bit easier for everyone, by adding a new kind of feature.
We already have something called "minimum bid" which is a number you can set for all of your players, and anyone trying to bid below this amount, will simply see the message "This bid is too low" or something along those lines.
Now, we are introducing a new number you can set as a manager yourself when placing a player on the transfer-market:
Auto-sell amount (for the lack of a better name).
Basically, it you set this to be 100.000.000 $, any bid above this number will ensure the transfer will go through wether or not the seller clicks the accept-button.
Also, the bid can not be rejected, or withdrawn!
So once the auto-accept offer has been made, it will go through, automatically, when the designated time-limit has passed. (Today, this is 16 hours, but it seems we might change it to 12).

Hopefully this will help both buyers and sellers alike, in a tough transfer-market.

One thing to note, is that we have moved everything that has to do with bids, offers, marking players for sale, raising your bids, setting or changing the minimum-bid and auto-accept value, from the same section of the game, to make it easier to keep track of what is going on.
The initial bid must still be placed at the Player-Details popup like before, but after that, everything is taken care of from the "My Transfers" section.

A work-in-progress partial screenshot can be seen below.

That's it for this edition of the Developer Diary. Comments are welcome and critics are ignored :)

Have a nice weekend!

PS: Next week contains another season-change, so I might skip the Developer Diary, or delay it, depending on the workload here at HQ.

pictureWill there be a 5minute delay on the auto accept if it's met after the 12 first hours in case of a bid war, or is it just first to the mill? :) I can imagine that if 2 teams are interested, and willing to pay the auto-accept amount, it's just the one that press the button first after the 12hours are over that get him? ( No use of bidding more before the 12 hours are over if you get him for that amount if you press it first) :)
Spinner wrote:

pictureThe transfer system is extremely well balanced. The 12 hours is non negotiable and there will never be a system where players are automatically sold. Also trades and players loans will never occur. Any other suggestions that are not even remotely similar to anything ive listed, can be posted. If you are upset about people not accepting bids, use this system.

1. Mail the player first to see if he is active.
2. Negotiate a Price
3. Place Bid.

Guess one sticky can be removed from the forum now :p

It's always nice when new features seem to be well received by a lot of people, whoever it is :)

Fatamorgana, if you just made your comeback, please note that these changes are still to come in the future, not this coming season-change :)

picturelooks sweet , hopefully this will make the market better as alot of people list for 70% then tell you they want double the value . with this more people will set a min bid X mil below what they want and an auto accept  X mil more than than there looking for . i'm really pleased with this change :)

Will the auto-accept amount be visible to everybody or just the manager? I don't know if it will cause any "problem" if visible, but I just thought people might speculate in the price and don't bid much higher as you've then already put your final price on the player...

Anyway - the new features look great...
