Switching from Season 42 to 43

As always, we get a lot of questions about the change of seasons here in ManagerLeague.
Mostly, they seem to be starting with When, What and How.
So let me explain the process, step by step.

Thursday at 09:00, the last training of season 42 happens.
When it is done, the game is automatically jumping into season-change mode.
During this time, you can not log into the game, and will be met with a cute "We're buzy!" page.

Now the system will first "finish off" the ended season, by aging all player, retiring those who feel they are too old to continue playing, insert history-data, deduct the income-tax and the fortune-tax, delete fixtures,delete results and match-reports.
When all this is done, the system takes a complete backup of itself, to be on the safe side.

Then, in-between" seasons, we upload the changes for the season, if any.
This is also where we run the change-scripts, to update the database to handle the new changes.
Also, teams that are changing leagues are moved at this point.

When that has been completed, the system is ready to think about the new season.
There are rankings to clean, players to clean, a lot of data belonging to bot-teams to get rid of, there are team-stats to reduce, player-stats to reduce, there are thousands of bot-teams who will re-evaluate their training-setup, there are thousands of new youth-players to hand out and there are values and wages to be updated with several million players.
Then of course, there are some league-cups to be set up, there are a ton of department-cups to set up, and of course Champions League.
Then we have to make sure everyone will see the button that will give them 15 free credits again, as we wouldn't want you to miss out on that one!

We must also create the new league-fixtures for everyone, and that is quite a lot, considering 80.000 teams playing games each round...

When that has been done though, the system takes another backup of itself, and we are pretty much ready for opening up the game again.
(At this point, I log on with my team to make sure everything looks right before I let everyone else log in though)

Usually, this whole process takes about 5-6 hours, depending on the number and size of the changes, and any problems encountered along the way.
So some time in the afternoon on Thursday, the game is once again open to everyone.

Friday is just "pre-season time", where nothing really happens, except playing of friendlies and creating / joining cups for the weekend.
Saturday is Custom Cups as usual.
Sunday is Custom Cups as usual too, but with an addition of the afternoon training-camp.
Then, finally, on Monday, the new season kicks off with training at 09:00 and the first round of the league-matches at 15:00.

There are no changes coming for next season, as we are working on some bigger changes that could not be finished in the short time between two seasons in ManagerLeague.
I am pretty sure these changes will not be ready next month either, but hopefully some time around mid January.
