 Things to look forward to next season! Or not?
Next season? When?
As usual, the game will be taken offline Thursday morning after training, I will be working like mad, and the game will come up around 16:00 in the afternoon.
Then there will be custom cups and a training-camp during the weekend, before Season 40 begins on Monday...
The new match-simulator
This was supposed to be an article, explaining a lot about the brand new match-simulator we have in testing at the moment. This would be the BIG news, and it would probably steal all the attention of the entire article. Now I know that will not be a concern 
The fact of the matter is that I am not reckless enough to release the new simulator yet, as it may have a number of problems we have not yet uncovered. For a number of reasons, we are behind schedule in testing, and we started at least one week to late with the actual testing. Furthermore, there are still one or two things not yet implemented that I really wanted to do. So, the brand new simulator, will have to be pushed another season into the future, and will not join us in Season 40. If it is any comfort, I am 99,998% sure it will join us in Season 41 though...
So then what?
However, this does not mean there is nothing to look forward to next season.
I have had 2 major areas of focus for the development the past month or so, and that has been The Simulator and System Performance. With the Simulator not making it, this season will be one dedicated to a much better system performance.
"So whats up with the system performance, and why do you bother spending time on something as boring as that?", I hear some asking.
Anyone who has tried to log in at 09:00 in the morning, or at 15:30 in the afternoon would understand why this is an issue. Now, it's bad enough that the performance mean you guys get slow server-response from time to time. But it is much worse when the system performance creates bugs and problems. For instance, the duplicate bids we have seen, and even rare cases of bugged accounts and login-problems.
There are in fact a number of problems related to the performance of the system, and it is time to see if we can get rid of them, and actually lift the entire system up to a level where it can handle 200.000 teams, so I don't have to worry about it for a while
So what does it all mean?
And we have certainly made several great steps when it comes to improvements in this area, you just wait and see. If the test-results from the development-server have anything to do with the real world and the real game, we can expect the following:
- Smooth server-response 24/7
- Training being completed faster (Not too important though, just a consequence)
- Matches being simulated faster (Not too important though, just a consequence)
- Some "bugs" magically vanishing or being reduced to a fraction of what they were (in frequency, not severity of course)
I am confident that the sad loss of the new simulator will be somewhat eased by a better system-performance, and I hope you will all notice things being a lot smoother.
That said, there is a TINY risk that I am wrong....
Things certainly behave a little different in the real game than on a test-system, although every precaution has been taken to emulate the real game and load from many users at once. So I am 90% sure the system will perform 90% better, but I could be wrong.
Being a tech-nerd (well, that too) I find this to be jolly exciting..Oh well, that's probably just me..
Looking east...
On a completely different note, our partners in South East Asia are now ready to begin the planned promotion of ManagerLeague in Malaysia. This is part of a bigger plan to help ManagerLeague into the South East Asian region, and it will be very exciting to see how it goes. Wish us luck, as we wish for a lot more opponents for you all!

Also on a different note, there have been a number of problematic SMS-payments in some countries, where the SMS's never go through, noone is charged, but noone gets credits. Also, one of our SMS-partners is apparently going belly-up, so we will not be getting our money from them. Because of this, some countries may seem a new SMS payment platform, and everyone should drop by the Purchase Credits page before just sending off an SMS to "the number they have always used", in case it is disconnected or no longer working. And specially if you live in UK or The Netherlands!
I know we have a lot of Polish people who are eager to get a working SMS-method up and running, and we are quite close now.
There are, of course, a number of tiny updates to the rest of the system as well, and I have been forced to improve the tools of our anti-cheat-workers and to our support-system, again to raise the quality of your experience with ManagerLeague.
And if you still have not heard, we have just grown from 2 to 3 people here at ManagerLeague HQ, and you will be able to see what this means soon enough.
