Only the top teams from each country may enter, and some countries need to play qualification rounds even to get 1 team into the main tournament. Some league have more teams in it than others (like England, Spain and Italy to mention a few), based on the overall quality of the league and, of course, based on what UEFA thinks will generate the most intrest (money) for the tournament. Here in ManagerLeague, the setup is fairly identical, but with different number of teams entering from each league, as we have fewer leagues, non-european league, and a lot of teams from certain leagues. The Group Stage The 64 teams in the tournament, are split into 8 groups of 8 teams. Each team will play the other 7 teams in the group once. Allthough played at one of the teams home stadium, it is important to know that there is no home-team advantage in these games, and the income is split equally between the teams. After each of these group-stage games, the Chammpions League page (under Cups in the menu) will be updated showing the group-tables. When all group-stage matches have been played, the top 2 teams will go on to the next stage. In this stage, matches can end with a draw. Please note: If team #2 and #2 (and maybe even #4 and #5) have the same amount of points, and the same goal-difference, and the same number of scored goals, we draw one of these teams at random to promote to the next stage. Internal results between the teams are not considered. The involved teams will get a message about promoting / getting knocked out by a draw. The knock-out stage 16 teams enter the knock-out stage of Champions League, 2 from each group. Each match in this stage is a "winner-proceeds to the next round, loser is out of the cup". These matches are played in a special stadium for this occasion, no home-team advantage is in effect, and the income is split between the teams. In this stage, matches can NOT end with a draw, and will, if needed, use both extra time and penalty shootout to find a winner. After each such match, the fixtures for the next round of the tournament are created. The finals The finals are played in a special stadium as well, which is the largest stadium in all of ManagerLeague. Other questions Do players gain more experience from CL then from normal matches?? Yes they do, but keep in mind, this isn't talk of a lot of matches... Do cards from the CL count in the normal league? Yes, and this is important: Champions League share "cards" with the normal league. This means that banned players will not play the CL-Match either. And a player getting a ban after a CL-match can not play the next league-match, but may play the next CL-Match. This has been implemented on purpose to avoid confusion on what kind of matches he is banned from, for the sake of simplicity and ease of use. Does the league cup champion qualify for the CL? No, it does not. How many leagues will play CL? Malaysian and the other uneuropean countrys to? Yes, all leagues in ManagerLeague will have teams in Champions League. Do I have to pay taxes from the champions League bonuses? Yes, you do. The taxman is relentless in his work! Will there be any seeding of the teams??.........before making the groups...? No, there is no seeding involved. The only thing we avoid is to put two teams from the same league in the same group. As the leagues themselves are unbalances, seeding would be somewhat troublesome More questions? Place a question in a comment below and I will update this article with it, along with an answer. |
