![]() Have you noticed the slow and sluggish response between 15.00 and 16.00? Want to know what it is? Or what we will do with it? As you probably know, at 15.00, the simulator goes into overdrive to simulate all the league-matches as fast as possible. This creates a rather huge load on our system. But on top of this, this is also the hour where people play most of their friendlies, adding a lot of matches to the simulator load. We did upgrade the servers, but it has so far not given much of an effect in throughput, which is a bit strange. However, after my vacation (which means in two weeks from now, Mallorca here I come!) we will, and this is where it gets a little technical, recompile the database-software to use a different threading-model which is supposed to be better utilizing multiple CPUs. I do not dare risk that upgrade just now, since I am leaving for Mallorca this Monday night, as it will both take time and involves the risk of things going a bit wrong, forcing us to reverse the process. So when I get back, there will be an announcement about some scheduled downtime while we take the database-server offline for the update. (probably 1-2 hours). So consider yourself informed, be patient for another two weeks, and things will be sorted out. It is also a chance we might prevent friendlies from being simulated until all the league-matches are done, to avoid the lower-division teams waiting for all the friendlies before they see their league-match..But more on that later. Thats all, folks! Hasta la vista (soon anyway)! |
