ManagerLeague : Online football manager : Wallpaper Competition Results

With 9 "serious" entries here, a little less than hoped for, it was a fine job I had set for myself to pick the best one.
Before the winner is announced though, there are some things to be said about wallpapers.

Peoples taste for wallpaper is something that puzzles me. I like mine as clean as possible, or at the very least, with clean open spaces (where I can have all my icons without them being interrupted by other colours, lines and whatnot), specially at the left side and the very top.
However, I see that my taste is not the same as many others, who are actually fine about full-size fotographs of their loved ones, their pets, a car, a slightly underdressed woman or straight out porn (!).

One thing I feel strongly about though, is that a Wallpaper is not an "ad". It can have a logo, but it's main purpose is to look good, not sell a product. Apparently, from the looks of the competitions entries, not everyone seems to agree.

All of the entires we got this time, have a black or a white background, which I guess is fair enough if you want maximum contrast for text and icons, yet I have a distinct dislike for white backgrounds. (eeek, my eyes! turn it off!) In this case, however, I decided to ignore such personal opinions as much as possible.

When all is said and done, a wallpaper should be nice to look at, not getting in the way of icons and text and other desktop elements, and hopefully be suited to your screen-size without looking cropped or awefully stretched.

I have gone through all the entires, and ended up with 1 winner for the competition. However, I have undergone the task of fitting all the entries into 4 desktop-sizes : 1600x1200, 1280x1024, 1024x768 and 1280x800 (a popular laptop screensize nowadays, or so they say anyway), and will provide thumbnails for them all below.
Please note that I took some creative liberties on a few of them when resizing them, to make them look better. I hope the artists will forgive me.

But lets look at the winner first, which was sent in by The Penguin Conspiracy (stop winning these competitions, you are making me look bad!).
The reason this one won, was due to it's design, it's areas of open space for icons and the overall "I-like-this"-factor.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any games as prizes this time. There has been too much to do lately, as usual, but we will give you a well deserved 50 credits for this.

And since all the other participants have contributed with their own creativity, we will reward the rest of you with 10 credits each for making the effort. Well deserved.
